You may want to have a look at this Apple page http://osxdaily.com/2012/01/29/fix-safari-crashing-on-ipad-and-ios-5/http://
Your "47.9 out of 64G" is Disk Storage NOT Memory. The Low Memory referred to in the Crash Reports is Random Access Memory (RAM) of which the iPad original only had 256 MB as this was the best available for a tablet at a reasonable cost at that time. Possibly at least partly due to the success of the iPad original, development of tablet processors and RAM was, and continues to be, extremely rapid. The iPad 2 has 512 MB of RAM and the iPad 3 has 1 GB of RAM. I did a quick search online and laptops nowadays come with about 4 GB minimum and many have 6 to 8 GB of RAM. If you read back you'll see that I and others have written about the implications of such a small amount of RAM. Webpages with a lot of pictures and/or video will crash Safari, webpages or apps that don't release memory properly - and there are more of those than you might imagine - will crash, apps written to require more memory - because MOST tablets out there now DO have more memory - will either not run or crash frequently.
I checked with Apple and was told that Aplle Care is not renewable for any device.

Oct 22, 2012 12:13 PM in response to Joachim Hettichby Nutsochick,I stand corrected! Sorry, one of the Techs gave me the wrong info.
-
Oct 22, 2012 12:53 PM in response to Joachim Hettichby Nutsochick,Oh, I also stand corrected on the memory bit BUT if you remember I stated that I shut everything in the background so I only have one App running at a time and 95% of these Apps I've had almost from the start (including looking through the new daily Apps to see if there is anything that I like) and that is where I constantly crash!!!!
So I'm not REALLY sure the RAM explanation would account for the "low memory" diagnostic? But, once again, if I'm wrong I apologize.

Oct 22, 2012 6:04 PM in response to Toboriby geopix,I for one, am not wealthy by any standard, and did not "happily" give up my iPad 1 for a replacement iPad 3. Times are tough for everyone, including our decidedly middle class household in suburbia. But I'm not one to grouse incessantly about this situation. First-generation computer products are notorious for being improved dramatically in following revisions. I knew this before purchasing the iPad 1, and before purchasing the iPad 3 (which rumors indicate, could be updated tomorrow, a scant six months after its ship date).
Keep moving forward is my computing motto. Sell or trade these machines for newer models that meet your needs. Compared to the $2,000 computers we used to purchase, they're a bargain.

No need to apologise and sorry if I came across as correcting you. I suspect, but do not know for a fact, that iOS 5 uses more of the available RAM than iOS 4 did so apps that ran OK under iOS 4 might now crash under iOS 5. I also suspect that when iOS 5 was launched it was probably a toss up at Apple whether to allow it on the iPad original - weighing up whether they would get more aggravation from people who objected to not being able to upgrade and get the new functionality against that from people whose apps - and Safari is just another app - crashed more often. Because of one thing you can be sure, either way there would be some VERY angry people.
It would be nice to be able to revert to an earlier iOS version - but you can't. I have a few theories why that might be but it would be outright guesses as opposed to the educated guesses above.

Oct 22, 2012 7:21 PM in response to geopixby Nutsochick,Sorry to stick my nose in (I'm sure it's not wanted) but my $2,000.00 computer that I bought 5 years ago is still running smoothly and will keep up with advancements. Because I knew it would be quite a long time before I could buy another computer I bought top of the line (6gig RAM which can be upgraded and 1 terabyte hard drive which can also be upgraded). I did the same when I purchased my iPad - I bought the biggest and best so that it would last until I could afford a new one. Again - SILLY ME!!!!
I wish you the best with your new iPad. I hope it works for you longer than your first. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Oct 22, 2012 8:20 PM in response to Nutsochickby Tobori,I have always built my own computers and only did so when technology advanced significantly, which means not very often. My current machine is over seven years old and runs like a dream and I'm still running Windows XP Pro. EVERYTHING runs on it.
When I got my iPad, I did so because of all the craze. I wanted to see what I was missing out on. Unfortunately not much at all. The most useful thing was as an E-reader while on the pot. In the beginning I bought many apps because I really wanted to do more with it. Every time I did, I was not impressed. Other than being able to play silly little games that didn't come close to PC or game console games, any "real" applications were really cheap immitations of true computer programs. Just to be able to print something was a nightmare. When I complained I'd get the "It's not a computer." excuse, or "It's not a gaming machine.". Now you can't even use it for surfing because "Websites have become very graphic intensive, using new versions of HTML, Flash...." and on and on. I'm surprised those of us with problems haven't been blamed for the way we are holding our iPads, or how we must watch out for the position of the sun.
Sorry for repeating several things from past postings, but it's either that or repeat how wonderful this device is for a first generation and experimental machine, like those with rose colored glasses do on here.
I just want my $700 to work! I didn't know I was leasing a device and my lease has run out!

Oct 23, 2012 2:18 PM in response to Toboriby Nutsochick,I know this has nothing to do with this discussion but - I don't know how you did it or what you did Mr. Tobori but you are the one and ONLY message I have ever received in my "default" e-mail account in the 2-1/2 years that I have had my iPad!!!!! I am completely awestruck. It kept showing that I had e-mail but I couln't find it until I remembered that I had another account! WOW, you are good!

I did nothing special. Just replied to your message. Must be the iGods.

Oct 23, 2012 7:07 PM in response to Toboriby Rustforlife,More like "Must be the iDiots".
I cannot believe that Apple is leaving us out to dry.
-
Oct 23, 2012 7:42 PM in response to Rustforlifeby Tobori,Hey,
They got our money, and with the huge following of iDiots that have money to burn, they have no reason to look back. Apple has no class. If they did they would treat ALL of their consumers with care, and stop producing their crap by cheap labor in a foreign country.

Oct 23, 2012 11:49 PM in response to Toboriby geopix,Tobori: Now you're just being insulting and obnoxious to people who've been trying to help here. It may be time for you to move on to a Google or Samsung support forum. Whatever you do, I hope you stop posting unless you have helpful information to share.

Oct 24, 2012 1:38 AM in response to geopixby Tobori,Geopix: Why? Because I don't glorify the iPad as you do and only speak about my experince and displeasure to inform other unhappy people that they are not alone?
You don't have to read my posts.

Oct 24, 2012 1:54 AM in response to geopixby Tobori,On second thought, it really is time to move on. NO ONE here posts anything useful. Whenever anyone does, it's something we all have tried and it never works. I thought eventually we would get some kind of support, but its been made clear, mostly by you, that us iPad One owners are screwed, so all we are left with is a pat on the back and a "I feel your pain" remark like you are good at leaving, and that ****** me off even more.
I will move on. This has been nothing but a waste of time.
Bye bye
