Nov 21, 2012 12:00 AM in response to geopixby Suissejas,Geopix - Sounds like you are an employee of Apple !!!
Your quote re the fact that many users do not suffer problems is of no relevance to me - I suffer problems and no-one will help - THAT is the problem !!! You can't complain about Apple's customer service - THERE ISN'T ANY ......

Nov 21, 2012 1:12 AM in response to Suissejasby Tobori,Either an employee or the official Appleogist. He/she always likes to post about what we CAN still due (after taking countless special steps) with our iPads. Just ignore what you CAN'T. I stopped posting because of his/her patronizing attitude. Chastized me because I post nothing useful. As if his/her posts are.

Nov 25, 2012 6:10 AM in response to John Scott1by hambone2013,I am also having problems with Safari closing unexpectantly. I was filling in a form to purchase something and it just closed. I am running IOS 6.01, IPAD 2. This has been happening more frequently. Apple support seems to not be picking up the problem and addressing it. End of the day, I walk into my office and fill out the form on my stable version of Firefox. iPad is good for viewing information, not trustworthy yet to enter info that may get lost half way through... whoa - oh thought I almost lost this post :-).

Nov 25, 2012 6:49 AM in response to hambone2013by Suissejas,I see there is over 1000 replies to this thread - I wonder if there is a threshold of when some action from Apple may be forthcoming ?? I doubt it.

Nov 25, 2012 10:14 AM in response to raymondfromwokingby kryptoUnderdog,An Apple employee told me that Apple runs Windows internally to get MS Office Sharepoint document management and other intranet portal functions missing from IWorks.
While I agree with the negative assessment of Windows to some extent, it's mostly a hardware issue as of Windows 7 64 bit. Thank HP in particular as well as Dell for that.
If you get a Windows machine consider Lenevo with a solid state (flash) hard drive with 8 gigs of RAM and your performance problems are history.
If you get an Apple of any kind get a machine with solid state drive. You can still run Windows on it via dual boot or Virtual Machine (VMWare or Parallels) and it has a retina display, which no PC has that I'm aware of.
On the point of office collaboration, document versioning and contact management, well there is no comparison. Change something in a Page docment on Ipad and good luck finding your own changes, let alone collaborating with anyone else. Need I mention publishing, versioned workflow, group change tracking, record management with corporate policy and entitlement driven security on specific documents?

Nov 27, 2012 8:36 PM in response to Suissejasby Jeffdnj,After trying several other suggestions, I turned off iCloud syncing for Safari. When I brought up Safari again, it was fine, with a new look (dark header and different options). Then, turned sync back on. Feels like iCloud sync needs to be off to allow iOS 6 to update Safari. Good browsing for last two hours! Crossing fingers

Nov 28, 2012 3:35 AM in response to Jeffdnjby Jeffdnj,OVernight locked up again and tries to revert to "old" Safari.
so, I have permanently turned off iCloud sync for Safari. As soon as I did, new Safari look came
back and surfing again.

Dec 1, 2012 1:28 AM in response to Suissejasby vivvvi,I've bought an iPad4 for development and I've been able to replicating this by loading more than 3 2048x1024 images in the browser.
I've tested the same in iOS5 on the iPhone without crashing.
Whilst if I try I can also crash Safari on the iPhone in iOS5, it's not so easy.
Also I've had numerous occasions that the web app I'm running stops the iPad responding to the home button, and the iPad needs rebooting. This is a device barely 2 weeks old!
I'm sure Apple are working on the problem, and don't want to admit iOS6.0/1 are duds, which isn't very comforting for those of us trying to develop in it.
While I'm here I'd also like to add my annoyance for apple dropping Safari for Windows.
Simultaneously Safari6 drops its client side debug tools, and now ALSO requires a modern Mac running OSX Lion.

Dec 2, 2012 3:25 PM in response to Rob Bruenby MinnGirl,I have a first generation iPad that worked fine for a couple of years and then I started having issues with Safari not loading pages, not being able to access iTunes and not being able to download apps. I didn't relate is directly to the last (5) iOS update, but it probably started happening around that time. It worked fine at the Apple store and other places I visited - just not at my house which is where I used it 99% of the time. I tried every fix on this and similar threads. Some of them worked temporarily, but nothing permanently resolved the issue. I finally replaced my five year old router, and it now performs perfectly. I've had absolutely no issues since I installed a new Netgear N600 Wirelwss Dual Band Router.

Dec 5, 2012 2:36 PM in response to Rob Bruenby ddt460,I have reviewed the last few months worth of posts and want to add my experience to the list of those with 1st gen iPads and latest iOS up date experiencing frequent crashes. I think I understand the situation and the explanations, and the lack of definitive resolution. I can get my device to crash consistently with certain web pages (ie Facebook, Washington Post). It is annoying. I am a long time Apple user, and this will probably not be my last. However, I do not buy Apple products unquestioningly, and experiences like this only increase my openness to expand my horizons.

Dec 6, 2012 3:09 PM in response to Rob Bruenby bre bro,I had an iPad2 with iOS5 for a year with no problems, then I got a new iPad3 and promptly upgraded to the latest 6.0 iOS and have been having Safari crash on me constantly! There seems to be. No consistent reason as to why. This and the new App Store bug that won't allow updates to apps makes me wish I had stayed with iOS5 with all those jail breakers.
