Q: iPad Safari crashing regularly

Safari on my iPad is crashing fairly frequently; sometimes when I restart it retains the pages that were previously open, and sometimes not.

Have not yet established a pattern, but it seems prevalent on very large pages (for example pages with many images) and on pages with embedded video (particularly Flash).

Anyone else experiencing the same issue and/or have any further information? Anybody using a browser other than Safari on the iPad?

Mac OS X (10.5.1)

As a long time Apple user, this issue has only been apparent since v7 and is defiantly a memory issue in their OS. Arrogance over time will affect their share price.  I won't be buying another Apple product, nor will I be recommending their products to my customers. There are many better products available in the market place, and a lot cheaper.

im in the same boat. i had someone call the other day, a relative, wanting advice on ipad or android galaxy pad. This was to be used for web browsing and email. I said based on what i've experienced i would NOT get a ipad period.  This has been going on since ipad air launch, i bought mine on the launch day. I have two other ipads in the house a ipad2 and ipad3 and they are still on ios6 and work beautifully.  i'm afraid it is a hardware issue as safari on the ios 7# for iphone does not crash but ipad air units do... weird.  I'm afraid as i do not want to be stuck with this unit as my conscious would not let me sell it to anyone.

any yes i've left feedback on apple's website.   if 7./1 does not fix i'll have to call into apple warranty and get a replacement , but after 107 pages on here of issues i'm thinking it's a bigger problem than we know.

    boo...

I took ipad air to a 'genius' yesterday and asked if there was a known problem with ipad crashing. Was told I was the first that they had come across! They did a DFU and said that would fix it but if it didn't it would be replaced.

I suspect neither options will fix it if it is in the iOS.

However they insisted that I SHOULD NOT BACKUP FROM MY ITUNES BACKUP as it would reintroduce the problem, this sounds illogical to me unless they have a different iOS to restore to my machine.

As I have a heap of stuff on the backup (many years of ipad stuff) I would like to restore that backup.

QUESTION: is the in-store DFU the same as I can do myself? If so I might as well recover my backup and if it is intolerable do my own DFU after I take action to save all my data? Hope that makes sense.

Ps I pleaded with genius to say there is a problem, don't waste your time coming here until the fix arrives but no, I was the first person with the problem and the "usual" 'I don't read discussion boards'.

The genius was not telling the truth.  One genius told me he sees this "all the time."  He wasn't suppose to say that.

Apple's exec office told me that my iPad is "operating as expected" after continued crashing following the (yet another) RESET.

I sent an email with screen shots of the error logs, and asked them to please respond that "this is as expected."  I got a phone message saying they choose to talk on the phone giving me a case number and the same old spiel.

And that is my issue with Apple.  They are not forthcoming.  Smoke and mirrors.  Lies.  How unethical.

Use the ITunes  backup. Not using it won't fix anything.

I even thought about jail breaking this as i see write ups on how to stop safari from crashing after it's jail broken, i'll wait for io7.1 and if it does not fix i'll have to get drastic and try something else.

AppleInsider reported that 7.1 should be out any time now and it's supposed to address the browser crash issue  - which they clearly know about.

I hope so, I also hope they sort out the web page resizing issue, freshly load a paid, click on a pull down menu link, and the page resizes itself

About this article, I read this comment:

I am not sure about the rest of you but the ability to run an iTunes festival app that I likely will never install is a rather unimportant detail in regards to a 7.1 update...................

I hate to burst everyone's bubble but this has been going on since 2010!!!  THIS IS NOT A 7.0 PROBLEM!  It is an APPLE problem.  They choose profit over customer satisfaction.

    JUST SAYING!!!!

Just wanted to add that I think what Samsung is doing is very business smart.  Instead of dribbling out their new ideas they're bringing out their big guns ALL AT ONCE (in April).  Unfortunately the Asians know profit is more important than GREED!  Maybe SOMEDAY Apple will get the hang of that concept.

I won't threaten NOT to buy Apple products anymore but Samsung looks very interesting!

My ipad4 crashes so much I can't finish an order on Amazon without have to log in to their website several times. Each time Apple puts out a new update (IOS 7.0.6) the crashes get worse. When we stop buying Apple products, they will rush to fix it. Sell them what they want, give them what you got.

I am on my third ipad with another genius appointment in a few days.  on the chat support, they seem suprised about the crashes, so perhaps there are some good apples out there, but i keep getting lemons.  last time i was in the store i demonstrated a crash and was told that all ipads crash now and then.  NOW AND THEN?, try everytime in less than 3 minutes with most crashes happening in less than a minute.  why does this keep getting hidden?
