Q: iPad Safari crashing regularly

Safari on my iPad is crashing fairly frequently; sometimes when I restart it retains the pages that were previously open, and sometimes not.

Have not yet established a pattern, but it seems prevalent on very large pages (for example pages with many images) and on pages with embedded video (particularly Flash).

Anyone else experiencing the same issue and/or have any further information? Anybody using a browser other than Safari on the iPad?

Mac OS X (10.5.1)

Crashing virtually every single time I scroll down Facebook in Safari since updating to the latest greatest this week.  There's a bad kernel somewhere...

    And crashed writing this.

Bought 4th generation with iOS 6 in Jan. 2013. Has never been the same since I accepted iOS 7. Safari crashes several times/day, every day. Load a page next to my wife's iPad 4th gen with iOS 6, and you can see how way slower my devise is, and has been since I took iOS 7. That fact alone demonstrates iOS 7 was a downgrade for me. I feel like Apple degraded my devise less then a year from my purchase, and I just have to accept it. I do, but a I sure don't like it. The number of Safari crashes per day began to go up dramatically perhaps 2 months or so ago. As far as Safari loading like a snail, or not at all, that too is very common, and sometimes I switch to Chrome to get around it.

My iPad Air is only a week old!  I too am experiencing safari crashes.   This is clearly a software issue.  Shame on apple for ignoring their customers.   Is this the NEW Apple user experience?

I would guess you upgraded to 7.1. It would not have been pre-installed.

Mine is two weeks old. The Safari crash and low memories I had on my iPad 4 with 7.0x have pretty much disappeared. Same websites, everything.

Apple says 7.1 was intended to be a fix.

Now that you mention it, my devise has not crashed in a few days! Or since I updated to 7.1 So used to it crashing multi times a day, I assumed it would always be that way, but either a lull or a fix? Keeping my fingers crossed. Still much slower then my wife's devise, but keeping fingers crossed on crashes. iPad 4.

My appology to Apple and this community.  My Safari is working fine.  It's my Calendar whick is immediately closing each time I hit the button.  It started periodically closing while reading now it's constant.  I tried removing Calendar from Facebook then iCloud and last Google but still immediately closing.

    Yes, I'm running 7.1.

I should add that I never had any issues before applying the 7.1 update.  Will try a restore today to see if that fixes it.

So odd that 7.1 may fix crashes for some, yet precipitate crashes for others?

Unfortunately, I am reading elsewhere that 7.1 did not fix the crashing issue for the iPad Air edition, at least judging from most of the complaints coming from iPad Air owners it does not seem to have fixed it.

A couple of months ago maybe, I started completely powering my iPad Mini off overnight every few days. Since that time I have had zero crashes and, before, Safari, My Fitness Pal, Words With Friends, and other apps either crashed regularly or the screen refreshed itself every time I moved from one app to another. It seems that powering it on and off clears out the memory and it's stable for a few days.

I cannot find anything in the change log about a fix of the low memory issue....

    Am I wrong?

Take it to the apple store, have them re-flash it. That's not normal.
