Jan 9, 2012 11:20 AM in response to Philly_Phanby terjefromhøvik,Suffering from these problems, I really get p... Off by your arrogant responses. Hopefully you are not an Apple employee but just another fanatic nerd.
So far, not even the Apple shops have been able to resolve the problem. May I suggest you get off your high horse and sober up?

Jan 9, 2012 11:59 AM in response to terjefromhøvikby Sam Katz1,Hey. No, I'm not an apple employee, I just try to help.
I am not an Apple fanatic. I use tools because they are functional. You should ask to speak with the "Customer Relations" department if you are on the phone with apple and a second-level engineer cannot resolve your issue.
Customer relations should be able to get you a replacement ipad which should not have this issue.
I recommend you continue to do USB syncs and USB OS upgrades. I have no proof this caused the problem. also, only apply updates from your home internet connection, or internet connections you know to be reliable. Do not use the ipad until the updates are completely complete including media having been transferred.

By the way, exactly what were you told when you brought your device to the Apple Store?

Jan 9, 2012 1:09 PM in response to Rob Bruenby Raingod,Well I don't know what is causing this problem but since, for me at less, it's been happening since the mid iOS 4 update, where safari was crashing randomly a few times a week to iOS 5 where it got so bad that my iPad became unuseable. I did do a full DFU restore like was mention on here and at first it did look like it solved the issue. After a few days the crashing came back, not as bad as when I first update to iOS 5 but still getting random crashes in Safari multiple times a day, as well as other apps are also still randomly crashing.
I've decided that I will just bring in it to Futureshop where I bought it and also have an extended warranty and see if they will do something.

Jan 10, 2012 11:35 AM in response to Rob Bruenby fej40,Same problem here, ipad 1 became very poor, slow, safari crashes all the time, other application which worked fine with IOS 4.x are now crashing.
Second problem is when surfing webpages example news pages, click on an link, read the news and you then hit the back bottom Safari manages to loads and old caches webpage, this happen on all my IOS devices with IOS 5.x, Ipad, ipad 2, Iphone 3gs, Iphone 4 and the lates one iphone 4s.
Not good Apple, adding new features is fine, but why adding new bugs, whats the point with that...??

Jan 10, 2012 3:47 PM in response to fej40by Catsman,Having same problems as you, Safari Crashing (Ipad1 ios5.0.1) and newspapers returning to old editions when using Back button.
It has become so bad that I have stopped using Ipad for web browsing as it is just pure frustration.
Is there any public announcements about this by Apple or other User Groups?
PS Have done all the regular stuff, cleared caches, history, re-sync even restore....no different.

Jan 10, 2012 4:01 PM in response to CobraJetby scollins1868,Bingo! This is exactly what I experience, and it is very frustrating. I will usually give up and use my PC to post the replies. And I shouldn't have to jump through a bunch of crazy hoops just to make it work for awhile (a DFU restore, really?) It does it on my iPad 2 and my iPhone 4S. But I guess Apple's take on it is like Adobe Flash, the problem isn't Apple but vBulletin...... (eyeroll smilie goes here)
IPad 2 32gb WiFi. iOS 5.0.1 (9A405)
iPhone 4S 32gb AT&T, iOS 5.0.1 (9A405)
I haven't updated my iPad 1 to iOS 5, nor do I use it often (the kids do, but they don't post to vBulletin forums), so I'm not sure if it is afflicted too.

Jan 11, 2012 5:37 PM in response to Rob Bruenby HGCx,My iPad 1 is now the single worst computer I have ever owned. AFter upgrading to ios 5 then 5.0.1 my iPad went from being the single most reliable computer I have ever owned to the least reliable computing device I have ever owned.
Is is worse than windows Vista! My iPad 1 crashes every single time I use it. The ONLY wayi have found to get it to behave is to erase and rest the iPad. If I restore from iCloud or turn iCloud on in any way all He*l breaks loose. If I use iCloud in any way the machine is Dog slow and will crash repeatedly.
Apple has a reputation as making great user experience, yet this is the most frustrating experience I have ever had with a computer. Its almost as if they didn't test any of ios5 on the first generation iPads. This is a disgrace.
