Jan 20, 2012 3:57 PM in response to Rob Bruenby takeitaway,I have iPad 1, Safari as well as google maps doesn't open since upgrading to iOS 5.0.1. Would also love the photo 'add to existing album' option.'
After reading various discussions it seems iPad 1 owners have been neglected.

Jan 20, 2012 7:21 PM in response to Rob Bruenby Jeany,My iPad was opened on June 6, 2010. Safari always crashed, randomly and intermittently. Since the last iOS upgrade, it has crashed constantly, persistently, viciously. I read Huffington post, and almost every story I try to read, I have to make multiple attempts to get the page to load. Sometimes, after 6 or 7 tries, I just give up. TPM crashes similarly. This apple support site crashed when I tried to enter this post in the "reply" form field, so I wrote this in my notes, so I can copy it and keep pasting it until it sticks.
I'm really starting to get frustrated, meaning very angry.

Jan 20, 2012 7:28 PM in response to Jeanyby Jeany,I had to e-mail the post to my home computer and post it using a VPN through Pocket Cloud. I'm burning through my 3G account, and it really irks me.
Come on, Apple, get this fixed.

Jan 21, 2012 4:29 AM in response to Philly_Phanby RullDawg,I never mentioned iOS 5. Crashing started before the update though it certainly has gotten worse. This discussion forum started in 2010!
Get it fixed Apple!

Jan 21, 2012 8:03 AM in response to Rob Bruenby MisterWhite,I paid 600 euro's for my wifes ipad and advised my parents and many other family members to go with ipad for browsing the web. Unfortunately everything works great besides... browsing the web (yes, did all the tricks as shown on these forums). Apple you made me look like a fool in front of my complete family and given the lack of response towards users, i lost my faith as a highly loyal prosumer for 18 years. I hate galaxy stuff but my advise is: go with android for tablet browsing until this is fixed.
Best,
Mr.White
P.s
After reading the jobs biography, understanding the neurotic but beautiful drive for perfection, i can not believe apple sunk so deep, making an incredible amount of money over the heads of your "new" former pc customers without fixing a core problem situation.

Jan 21, 2012 11:47 AM in response to Rob Bruenby yudashin,I've been having major problems with my ipad 1 crashing too since the latter part of last year. I hate it, and it seems the powers that be don't care. It's so frustrating to go to a web page when you're trying to read something and it crashes to the home page. If you logged into a site and it crashes, you have to log in again. I'm getting so angry that I want to throw it on the floor or bang it. What's the problem with Apple? I was thinking briefly about getting ipad 2, but I don't know if it's having the same problems. I saw a comment about Atomic Web Browser and looked at the app. It seems to have a lot of positive results. If Firefox is available and works well, that is also an option for changing. Apple better do something quick. But this has been ongoing since 2010? I guess I shouldn't hold my breath.

Jan 21, 2012 11:52 AM in response to Rob Bruenby Peterzen21,I have gotten to the point that I cannot read the web content I want (WSJ, RCP, etc.,) at all as Safari crashed every few second and am ready to turn my Ipad 1 to Apple with request to either fix it or replace it. I bought the AppleCare and for me an Ipad without a browser is nothing more than glofiried kindle.

Jan 21, 2012 12:10 PM in response to RullDawgby Sam Katz1,If it happened before iOS 5, it really points to a hardware problem. Apple will do repairs on devices out of warranty. Go to the Apple store for more info.

Jan 21, 2012 12:11 PM in response to Peterzen21by Sam Katz1,If it is a problem that gets worse and worse, this also suggests hardware failure. You may want to try Atomic Browser since some people say that is more stable. When the next iOS update comes out, I highly recommend a clean install of it.

Jan 21, 2012 12:28 PM in response to yudashinby Jeany,Until I read this thread, I was thinking that my iPad was simply approaching its EOL. Now I'm relieved and furious. I did the hard reboot and the browser situation seems to have improved.
Apple needs to sort this out. I web browse on my iPad at least three hours a day over a cellular network. When I have to make a half-dozen attempts to load every discrete URL I read, this costs me. The last few months, my service has been renewing before the end of the month. Now I'm having issues with sending links from a browser and sending pics from my photos.
I'm not happy, Apple. I'm one of the long-time faithful; I spent 15 years coaching graphic designers through their digital retooling, I'm the heart of your user base. It would not be good to lose me.

Jan 21, 2012 12:49 PM in response to takeitawayby dougteeshot35,They clearing the history and cookies in the settings. Doing this will clear RAM on your iPad and put less stress on the processor. This means apps will crash less.

Jan 21, 2012 2:06 PM in response to Jeanyby Sam Katz1,It sounds like you've resolved the crashing. If you want to make a new thread for the other issues, that would be great. Or if it isn't resolved, could you describe what's happening?
Because the issues with sending links from your browser and pictures probably relate to your smtp server settings. Please make a new thread for this and post it here so I can help you.
Thanks.

Jan 21, 2012 6:27 PM in response to dougteeshot35by dudleyrose,Clearing cookies is ridiculous. That removes saved logins, and since Apple won't allow something like Lastpass to work with Safari on the iPad, it means re-entering way too much information every time I clear cookies and cache. Between the crazy back button behavior that takes you to a long out-of-date version of many sites and the constant crashes, I'm getting pretty close to owning a $700 paperweight. If this is not fixed (really fixed, not some useless workaround) I will definitely look elsewhere for my next tablet.
