Jan 26, 2012 12:10 PM in response to Bioyoby Ashooner,Opera Mini might function differently, since it is all pre-processed on Opera's servers, but just about any other browser will be using the same webkit UIWebview, which seems to be the problem (based on other apps crashing that use the UIwebview object).

Jan 26, 2012 6:46 PM in response to rene275by hobiz2,I have been on the phone with apple for over 20hr. I have been into the store 3 times. They have sent me 2 different ipad 1 (32G, 3g) and even with a totally clean install, with no apps, with no bookmarks, it crashes all the time. I feel that the IOS 5 is too much for this machine. They will not change out my machine into something else dispite having an applecare policy. The people at apple have told me that I should just wait for an upgrade to the IOS and live with it. The real bummer is that you can't revert back to IOS 4 like a sane system would.
Its why they won't allow ios 5 to go on an iphone3. No help with support.

Jan 29, 2012 9:26 AM in response to Sam Katz1by oldnewbie3,- I have an iPad2 and the Debug Console idea has seemed to help (temporarily? time will tell...) with the Safari pages not loading correctly (they had been stopping about 15% of the way through).
- I've kept JavaScript on.
- I rebooted not with the red slider button, but using a suggestion on this thread--off button + home button.
One other thing I did (which may or may not have made a difference): Under Safari, I changed the Search Engine to Yahoo. This has allowed me to use Google without the "15% through" crashes.
(I had been clearing cookies, cache, history routinely and that made no difference. )- Disclaimer: am not tech-savvy so am not attempting to claim these are definitive or right solutions, or that they are in fact related to the root problem; I haven't spent the time to isolate which specific one of these changes may have made a difference---am only posting this in case it helps someone else like the replies of others have helped me.
- Before this, I had been powering off and on, which would always fix the issue, but only temporarily---meaning quite a lot of powering off/on each day.
- I have not done a restore or DFU restore.
Thanks to whomever posted the suggestion about changing the search engine within Safari first and to SamKatz1 for highlighting it again in one of his posts, and to all those who have used this space to post helpful information (PhillyPhan being the notable exception).

Jan 29, 2012 10:12 AM in response to Rob Bruenby PaulWith,I've noticed today when I go to the Washington Post many of the artice cause it to crash. I reduced the number frequency of crashing by stopping pages from fully loading. When I allowed them to fully load they would crash within 15 seconds. Stopping them from fully loading stopped it.
Hope that information helps a programmer.

Jan 29, 2012 5:27 PM in response to TheEdge7by Bsuska,Exactly, love this response. Really, really annoying. Definitely has something to do with the web page loading video, come on Apple, don't you read these forums? Let's get an update rolled out.

Jan 30, 2012 5:49 AM in response to Rob Bruenby Tracy481,Mine crashes all the time too. It's getting to be very, very annoying! You'd think Apple would try to fix this faster.

Jan 30, 2012 6:06 AM in response to Tracy481by hobiz2,someone told me that a fix in the new OS is probably coming out soon(probably?). Poor form on Apples' part

Jan 30, 2012 7:38 AM in response to Rob Bruenby dudleyrose,I've been having much better luck with the Atomic Web Browser. It almost never crashes, and Safari was crashing for me all the time. BTW, using iPad 1.
-
Jan 30, 2012 8:00 AM in response to dudleyroseby Mrsstrom,I have an iPad 1, too. I'll try the Atomic. Not liking that I have to pay for it, though. I feel like I am being nickel and dimed with all these apps just improve my iPad experience. After paying a small fortune to own it, shouldn't it work correctly? Just sayin...

Jan 30, 2012 5:06 PM in response to Rob Bruenby NatefromTX,This is wearing me out. Safari crashes CONSTANTLY when filling out a web form. I'll be replying to a thread on a forum and Safari will just shut down and I lose everything I had typed.
This has been going on so long. Why hasn't it been addressed?

Jan 30, 2012 5:50 PM in response to GEOPIX, Inc.by hobiz2,There have been a few other postings that one cannot access. It looks like they may in fact be censoring the site.
I cannot seem to copy it here, and apple won't allow me to access it.
it was message 17444749 and he claims to have been in contact with very senior technicians. His original message was under Geopix on Jan 6th. His update was Jan 30, yet it doesn't seem to exist here.
Just warning you that this is occurring.

Jan 30, 2012 6:21 PM in response to Rob Bruenby Mrsstrom,The first post in this thread is dated June 2010. And now it's January 2012. This is seriously bad service! Not sure I am going to be buying any other Mac or Apple products.
