Feb 26, 2012 2:22 PM in response to Rob Bruenby Cthehill,I did everything outlined in the itworld article. Had no lasting effect.
CrApple support would have broadcast a solution if there was one.

Feb 26, 2012 2:49 PM in response to Cthehillby Catsman,Same as Cthehill, done all that, also replaced Ipad. Same problem returned after day or so. There is no doubt the problem is a big one. I suspect a revised os for Ipad 1 will have to be released with decreased functionality. Hardware can't cope with IOS 5 ( or at least Safari).

Feb 26, 2012 8:59 PM in response to Rob Bruenby javadrknmtbr,Add me to the list. Constant crashing and slow reaction to keystrokes using Safari. Tried all fixes listed including other browsers. Pretty disappointing. My wife has the iPad 2 and it seems to work great.

Feb 27, 2012 8:56 AM in response to Rob Bruenby marlat1112,I'm having big problems also, Safari crashing all the time. Totally frustrating...I do not think I should have to go back to total reset to fix this problem...apprantly this is Apple's problem. Please fix and send us an update.

Feb 27, 2012 10:20 AM in response to marlat1112by Sam Katz1,If you had been following the forum thread, a total reset saves your apps under ios 5. Please follow the instructions for fixing this issue earlier in the thread. (It involves backing up to icloud, turning icloud off, and then doing a restore, and then turning icloud back on, and to manual.)

Feb 27, 2012 1:26 PM in response to Sam Katz1by Catsman,And for many of us Sam, this does not work. The hours wasted with these "fixes" is astronomical. One sentence from Apple confirming the issue would put this to rest until a fix was distributed. There are now over 200,000 reads on this and related posts and yet not one word of acknowledgment from official sources. A very short term strategy which may lose many many loyal Apple users.

Feb 27, 2012 3:08 PM in response to Sam Katz1by marlat1112,Wasting 2 hours of my time to fix this when, as you can read from others, isn't going to fix this problem. Apple needs to acknowledge this issue and send an update. And if I only had an 8 GB pad I might consider a total reset, but an almost full 64 GB is a little different. I've had issues with iCloud too. I agree with Catsman!

Feb 29, 2012 6:22 PM in response to Greeegby Greekie,Same as all of u, apps do it too, I've tried all the things suggest works briefly then back to kicking me out and I also will not spend another evening restoring etc, when it doesn't fix the problem. So very disappointed.

Mar 1, 2012 1:41 PM in response to Rob Bruenby Meek123,The safari crashing on my ipad 1 is really making me think seriously of dumping the ipad platform. Sorry but all I use the Ipad for is for email and web browsing. Pretty much everything else is pointless. Now I always get nervous of another pending crash everytime I see the progress bar slow down it has made me really want to dump the ipad. Sorry apple but your crap browser is the worst I have ever used on any platform even when it does work it is about 18 months design wise behind pretty much every other browser out there. Give us a quality browser and no more ignoring the problem.bi wish I never bought his overpriced piece of hardware. It will only take my critical email program to start crashing and the ipad will become the worlds most expensive fisbee.

Mar 1, 2012 5:37 PM in response to Doug4650by Doug4650,Update to my post. Well it seemed to get better for a while. But safari still crashes, seems to be not as often, but still crashes. Even though I turned off notifications, I still get them (strange). I guess the bottom line is that the IT article didn't really make it work.

Mar 1, 2012 6:06 PM in response to Doug4650by aimeefromtopsham,Nothing has worked on my iPad or my iPhone, either. I have done everything that is recommended and nothing works. As a matter of fact, ever since I did the reset, it has gotten worse. I didn't think that it was possible, but it is. It's really sad to say, but my nook tablet performs much better than my iPad does now.
If there is no fix soon, I'm afraid that my relationship with Apple will have to come to an end. It makes me sad to say that, but there it is. For the amount of money that you spend on these things, they should work at least 75% of the time. I really don't think that I am asking for too much here. I better post this before it crashes again...

Mar 1, 2012 8:03 PM in response to Sam Katz1by Tygar Prawns,Sam, we know that you are an apologist for Apple, but you should not have to do this every time the ipad crashes.
My post will be removed very shortly by apple.
To do a restore takes at least an hour if not longer.... frankly those who forked out $600 to $800 for this thing should at least not be taken in by planned obsolesence.
How does Apple sell more gadgets? It mearly boosts the OS to the point that the device crashes all the time.
Seriously, do I want to buy an apple product if I know it will be obsolete in a couple of years?
