Mar 1, 2012 8:19 PM in response to Tygar Prawnsby Jeany,Well to be fair, I'm pretty sure the competition doesn't do a better job of providing an upgrade path for their mobile devices.
I have played along, learned all the steps of the "try this" dance, and it has become a sheer misery to use, which is an upgrade of the torture I was experiencing when I stepped into this thread. My iPad was a gift, and I will never have the funds to purchase a replacement. I do not expect Apple to EVER fix this issue for the iPad I have.
But I'll keep reading this crap, just in case.

Mar 1, 2012 10:11 PM in response to Jeanyby alohaglide,Definitely think there is a problem, hope it gets fixed with the next update, but I just wanted to report back again that the fix I outlined above is still working quite well for me. I can't promise anything, but if you haven't tried it, you might as well!
Aloha!

Mar 2, 2012 1:31 AM in response to Bogdan Suciuby Meek123,Same here crashes for me. What is this about? The browser on my Samsung galaxy S2 phone handles that same site with ease.
I am actually typing this from a PC now as my ipad 1 browser kept crashing trying to post a comment.
I am sorry CRapple but you need to make browser stability top priority as I have stopped using the browser totally now and use the ipad 100% for email only. I have not used a Samsung Galaxy tablet yet but if the phone browser is anything to go by then it will be my next purchase and not an ipad3, 4 or 5.
Oh and anyone telling me to do reset, restores or stand on my head while using it can forget it. The latest ipad OS has only now got the same ability as Windows 3.11 and the browser not even the ability of firefox 1.0. For $800 equivalent I paid for this 2 years ago I still feel I have not got a stable browser or my monies worth from it.
.....seriously CRapple how can a Samsung phone have a better browser than an Ipad...someone please explain it to me.

Mar 2, 2012 3:26 AM in response to Rob Bruenby gogega,For all with troubles once again:
First disable all iCloud services and restart the iPad. Then delete your iCloud Account on the iPad. Then reset all settings without wiping data and documents. After the iPad has rebooted the first setup-assistant appeares, don't use a backup. At this time setup your iCloud account again, the fewer services you choose, the better. Go to settings.app --> mail, contacts, calendar --> fetch new data --> advanced --> iCloud and choose "manual", which makes iCloud syncing only when the corresponding app gets started. So I did. I limited spotlight to only show apps, music and contacts and enabled debug-console for safari. My iPad now is running fine for 3 weeks or so, although safari is still crashing maybe one time a day after heavy use, but this is ok I think ... Good luck!

Mar 2, 2012 4:22 AM in response to Rob Bruenby EssentialParadox,Ugh... was trying to read this thread on my iPad and Safari crashed.
It's beginning to make me dread reaching for my iPad to use the web.

Mar 2, 2012 4:54 AM in response to Postlaneby Postlane,While we are at it how about fixing the annoying auto suggest that gets it wrong too often. How "add" turned into "each" above, I have no idea. ...and the capitalization when you add a word in front of an existing sentence!

Mar 2, 2012 6:45 AM in response to Rob Bruenby Damian Leszek,Gogega if people would like solution like this that isnt solving anything, they would be on some scumy jailbreak site. It is to Apple to fix this problem and hopefully we wont have to wait another month.

Mar 2, 2012 7:42 AM in response to Rob Bruenby Raingod,Gogega I've tried your supposed fix, but the "healing" effects last for about 24hrs, same as doing a full wipe and reinstall of ios5, so in other words it doesn't work. I have tried every single supposed fix and it's the same. This is a major bug in iOS5. I think I'm going to send an email to apple today and see if I will get a response. At the same time I might send one to some tech sites too and see if they will cover this.
-
Mar 2, 2012 7:45 AM in response to Raingodby Tygar Prawns,Thanks for this Raingod.
Please do so contact a Tech site. I also did this... we will see whether or not they cover.
As for contacting Apple and getting a response. Good luck. They will not even recognize there is an issue. Apple really doesn't care. Sell new products, who cares about the install base: that is Apple's Motto!

Mar 2, 2012 11:46 AM in response to Rob Bruenby Raingod,Just to clear something up because it was mentioned. Debug mode will not prevent crashes. Debug mode will only show scripting errors on a website, and these errors do not equall crashing. Some might cause safari to crash but the majority are harmless.
The Facebook errors that debug was finding have nothing to do with the Facebook app, but relate to some facebook integration on the website you were browsing. Most likely they are from a button to "like" a page on Facebook or a share button on the site.
Considering that the iPad logs show low memory errors before the crashing. I'm still thinking its probably some memory management bug with Safari, hence why media heavy sites seem to me to be crashing more often. This could also explain why some are reporting that other apps a crashing, if Safari isn't clearing itself from the ram then this could result in other apps running out of ram.
