Oct 16, 2011 7:00 AM in response to picjoe1by axcurtis,I'm having the same problem on iPad 2 with iOS 5. Safari opens to white screen but when you touch any part of the screen it crashes down to the iPad home screen. I closed the app, cleared the cache, did a hardware restart, etc. No change. All other apps are working fine, including those accessing the Internet via either wi-fi or 3G. This is a real mystery.

Oct 23, 2011 11:27 PM in response to Rob Bruenby krakas,Same here. Ipad first gen, ios 5.
Safari used to be extremely stable (a crash once every blue moon only on very heavy pages).
Now it seems like i cn't go through a couple of days without experiencing a crash. Techcrunch.com, for example, i haven't been able to open it today, always ends up crashing.
Apple, any update coming soon?

Oct 25, 2011 8:53 AM in response to krakasby James Lorenzen,Ditto for me. Safari is crashing multiple times per day. It also brings up an earlier page when using the back button.
Prviously it crashed only rarely and it never presented a previous page whine when using the back button.
iOS 5 & iPad 1. No problems using my iPhone 4 w/iOS 5.

Oct 26, 2011 9:29 PM in response to Rob Bruenby Boz22,same here too. all was fine (iPad 1), until iOS5 update yesterday. now crashing regularly !!!! kinda wished i didn't upgrade now.
also, i prefer the multi-window button, instead of the tabs across the front of the screen now.

Oct 26, 2011 9:49 PM in response to Boz22by krakas,I personally find the new Safari to be a **major** improvement over the iOS4 one.
If only it were stable, that would be perfect.
Unstability got to a point where I'm wondering if I'm not going to try to downgrade it.
That, plus the multitasking gestures.
Damnit it Apple, you guys usually do a wonderful job, iOS 5 is packed with awesome features, why ruin on something like that?

Oct 28, 2011 9:36 AM in response to Rob Bruenby billfrombeaverton,Upgraded to iOS 5 two days ago...and since then, my iPad 1 crashes multiple times a day. In the year that I've had this device, it only happened a handful of times before this upgrade. I initially wasn't going to upgrade, knowing there would be problems since it's new...but 13 of my apps required iOS 5 for their updates, so I went for it.
I'm another one not liking the tabs across the front of the screen.

Oct 28, 2011 6:46 PM in response to Rob Bruenby Catherine Mauro,I also started having problems after the iOS5 upgrade. very rarely did my safari crash on my iPad 1 with wifi. now it happens several times a day. I also experience the back button navigating me to the previous days version of a site. I've stopped using the back button altogether. no problems at all with my iPhone4 after the upgrade.

Oct 29, 2011 6:03 AM in response to Rob Bruenby junge644,I've also had problems with Safari since iOS 5 on my iPad. There are frequent crashes and problems with the back button loading yesterday's web sites. Safari works great on my iPhone running iOS 5.
