Who ordered thru AT&T? Who got confirmation email?

How long after you placed your order did your confirmation email come through? If you go check the status of your order, does it show "processing"? Has your card been charged any amount? If so, what's the amount? The entire cost of the phone + tax, or just $1?

I ordered my phone at 1pm (FINALLY, after hours of struggling) via the AT&T site. I have my confirmation page at the end of the process that includes my order number. However, when I go to check the status, it says that the information I entered isn't recognized in their system, but when I call it says that it takes 48 hours. I personally don't feel confident when I can't even get an email confirmation of my order. When I check my upgrade eligibility, it still shows eligible for upgrade waiving the $18 activation fee, so that hasn't changed. Pretty much, I have no warm and fuzzy feeling, 3 hours later, that my order was received, accepted and is being processed. I don't like it.

I'm curious to know others' experiences so far, to see if maybe this is the norm. Most of what I've seen so far points me in the direction that I should've gotten SOMETHING by now, like a $1 charge on my card, an email about my order being received, or I should at the very least be able to pull up and verify my order number.

Thanks in advance. I'd rest easier if I just had something more definite and concrete that my order is out there in cyber-world with AT&T and I won't be missed/forgotten. I may just call AT&T and try to speak with a person, but I'm trying to avoid overwhelming their call center any more than necessary. 🙂

I just clicked on the link they sent in my confirmation email and i am able to get a page that shows my status as received and in processing. not sure what that means, i'm hoping that it's delayed because they have so many people ordering today and it's just a matter of time until they charge my card and have the phone available to ship. or it could be that my order will stay in processing mode until they get more shipments of the new iphone and have one available for me when my turn comes depending on the time i ordered it.

I just called the 877 number on the Order Status page on AT&T, and according to the recording it said that they don't have a record of my order.... even entering the order number. The recording said that if the order was placed within the last 6-8 hours, to give it an hour and try back later. Ugh, what a clusterf**k!!!!

You'd think if you got a confirmation number, you'd have a frickin' order! Jesus, AT&T, get your head out of your butt, I'm SICK of dealing with this CRAP! Seriously!!! I just want my freakin' order to go through and move the heck on!! UGH!!!

I placed my order through AT&T earlier today, around 11:45 is when I received my confirmation email. I used a debit card as a credit card to purchase the new iphone but have not seen any charge go through yet, which is not normal for my debit card because I typically see charges right away. I just tried logging into AT&T to check my status and AT&T does not recognize my confirmation number though it states that sometimes it takes around 24 hours for it to show up. I have a feeling that they ran out of phones to send out but they are still taking pre orders. If you have not been charged yet, I don't think you will get your phone on the 24th but AT&T will send an email stating that they ran out of phones through the pre orders and everyone who did not get a phone will get one when AT&T gets them from Apple.

This is what worries me, I have heard NOTHING, every attempt I make to verify the order status bombs out with "your order could not be located".

I'd love to make another attempt at ordering if I could get through to the AT&T site, but it was brought down by AT&T and there's no telling how long they're going to keep it down to sort out this clusterf**k....

I just want to cry from frustration.

Josie, if you order again I'm almost certain you'll regret it, and you'll have to deal with AT&T to get your money back. That WILL make you cry.

If they are sold out, as people on this thread suggest, then your 2nd order wouldn't get you anything anyway.

I recommend waiting a couple of days, calling AT&T to cancel your previous order, and then maybe order again. Or wait until the lines die down after launch day and do it in person.

Poor AT&T customer support reps, LOL... I'm on hold

I had to laugh. My "approximate wait time is 4 minutes...." Yeah right, I'll believe that when I see it.

I didn't want to bombard them, but I just don't know what to think or do at this point. No information about my order still, I am just worried. If AT&T can't get my order processed, what's up with the Apple site? It won't let me order through there, it says that my account set up cannot be completed online and I must go through the Apple store in person.

If I can just get a confirmation that the order was successful and it's just sitting in a queue somewhere, I'll be happy.

I'll let ya'll know what wonderful tidbits of information the wonderful AT&T CSR provides, LOL...

Ok, update from AT&T. No, they have no record of my order whatsoever, so if you haven't gotten a confirmation email, or $1 hold on your account, CALL AT&T!!!

They are going to give it a full 24 hours to post the order on my wireless account. They have a high volume going on right now, so she said that they need to give the full 24 hours to allow for the order to go through. However, if I wanted to place another order on their site, that would be fine. She said that you're only allowed one order per wireless number, so there would be no way I'd be charged multiple times if I ordered through AT&T again.

The lady I talked to was super nice. She said they're going to do a 24 hour follow-up, so they'll be in contact with me by 2pm ET tomorrow, that would be 25 hours from when I placed my order. If by 25 hours, I haven't received a confirmation email, or noticed a bank hold for $1, or can check the status of my order via AT&T's order status link or 877 number, I need to resubmit my order.

As for the "AT&T Sold out as of 4:30pm ET", she said that isn't accurate. They order the iPhones directly from Apple for release based on the number of pre orders they have, so as long as Apple doesn't sell out, they won't. As of right now, they said they're fine. She said the stores will run a very high risk of running out, but if you order online, you're pretty much guaranteed to get your iPhone on release day depending on Apple's supply.

I'm going to attempt to re-order on AT&T's site, since I don't have anything to be concerned about. FYI, even if I did get charged twice, I'll only receive 1 phone, I have enough money to cover 2 charges while wait for a refund. 🙂 No worries.

I'm breathing a little better now. I still wanna see that wonderful AT&T confirmation email. LOL

I am an existing customer, I've had my service through AT&T for 2 years.

I didn't receive any info. If your order status still isn't available after 24 hours, call AT&T support, seriously. They usually reserve at least $1 on your account to ensure that the account is valid. While they MAY not charge you the full amount, it is possible that they do charge. There have been numerous reports of people who got charged the full amount upon ordering. I personally don't care, they can charge me now, I've got the money to cover it, I'm not worried about that. I am worried about having this bogus "order number" from the AT&T website that may have been provided at the time their system "hiccuped", and they have no record of my order. I don't want to be anticipating a brand new pretty little toy to play with in 9 days, only to have my hopes and dreams shattered because of a mistake on AT&T's part due to website instability. :P
