10.6.4 malfunctioning F1 & F2 keys

Ever since the update, I am unable to adjust the brightness using the F1 and F2 keys. It will only stay at 100%. This happening to anyone else? Suggested methods of troubleshooting?

Thanks!

This is just a wild guess, but have you tried holding down the "fn" key while you press those keys? If this helps, there's an option in the Keyboard tab of the Keyboard panel of System Preferences that controls that behavior.

I can confirm... I cannot control the display and pressing any other keys with F1 or F2 does nothing. There doesn't seem to be anything we can do.

I've also noticed 90%+ CUP utilization in CUPSD process almost continuously. And the system has hung a couple of time for no apparent reason while doing pretty much nothing.

I rarely update immediately and did this time... I should stick with what I know. 😟

Not a good week for Apple...
