How do you delete songs from the ipod shuffle?

I just purchased the ipod shuffle. I plugged it in my laptop and it downloaded all my songs on to my ipod and I don't want all of the songs downloaded. SO how do I go about deleting songs that are currently on the ipod?

Hello philly china doll,
And welcome to Apple Discussions!

How you delete music from your iPod depends on how you have it set up to sync with iTunes, which is where deleting music takes place. It sounds like you have it set up to automatically sync with your library. One option is to simply restore the iPod via iTunes and then set it up again however you wish to sync with your library. If not, see this Apple support document for instructions on how to delete content.

Hi,

In iTunes Right click on the song or remove it from the playlist.

First off you should always back up your music and these devices really don't hold that much. You should start iTunes and connect the iPod. Does your iTunes recognize the shuffle? If so you need to be sure the current OS update is installed. If that doesn't work you will need to reset it. Both functions will wipe all of the songs you have on it but should resolve your issue.
