iPod Classic won't sync after 9.2 update

Just updated iTunes this morning, and now my iPod won't sync. It verifies the iPod and as soon as it starts to sync, iTunes completely freezes, and a few seconds later my iPod no longer says syncing on the screen. I have to force quit iTunes. I've tried doing automatic syncing, manual syncing, restarting my computer, resetting my iPod, nothing seems to work. What should I do?

I discovered I had the same problem with my 160 GB iPod Classic last night, and after trying multiple troubleshooting techniques, I resorted to restoring my iPod. Big mistake. While iTunes performed the restore perfectly, I still couldn't sync any content to the iPod and was left with an empty iPod.

I eventually discovered this thread and discovered I was not alone. After a few you said to wait five minutes, I tried waiting out the spinning beachball, but iTunes never recovered. So I just used Time Machine and went back to 9.1.1. The iPod synced up fine once again and it has been transferring my 28,000-plus music files for more than 8 hours now. I will wait until Apple resolves this issue in the next update.

I'm curious - has anyone tried a FIREWIRE iPod?

I've got a 3rd generation (touch wheel) that syncs via firewire. Of course the battery is long gone, but it works fine in a cradle.

Since some people are reporting issues with 5G iPods (I have one of those, also a 3 yo Nano, several iPhones, etc) I wonder how a really old iPod is doing.

I'm going to hold off on this update for a while. No rush for me.

I had the same problem but on a PC.

Waiting worked... eventually. It was considerably more than five minutes though. More like half an hour.

Would it be bad form to spam my video now? Who am I kidding? Like I care, I am terribly self absorbed. It's my world cup song and it is sweary:
