Hey guys quick question, I went to the Apple store because my iPhone needed replacing. It was approved for the exchange under my warranty but because I had my friends sim card tray in my phone they would not allow the exchange. My sim card tray was loose, and my friends iphone broke so he gave me his. I just ordered a generic sim card tray from eforcity and i'm wondering if I am able to exchange my iPhone now? If I dont have the original sim card tray does that void my warranty? Thanks in advance

Why did you order a "generic SIM"? Who is your carrier? They usually replace the SIM for free. Is your phone hacked in any way?
He is talking about the tray, not the SIM card itself.
The sim card tray is unique to your phone. It has the IMEI and SN printed on it. Replacing it will not be free as you no longer have your original SIM tray. I believe its like $15 last time I checked when replacing it through Apple.
Right, missed that!!
The SIM trays usually have the serial and imei numbers on them. The generic one i bought is blank. The Apple store already popped open my iphone and checked the serial number on the inside and everything matches. Doesn't make any sense if they don't let me exchange my defective iphone..
I had to have my sim card tray replaced a couple of months ago. Because it was my fault, it cost me $8 to replace, even though my phone is still in warranty.
Did they replace your sim card tray on the spot?
