Magic Mouse vs. Mouserug

My new Magic Mouse works terribly with my Mouserug, although my old Mighty Mouse (not a bluetotth device) worked perfectly. Before I conclude that this is an instance of a new technology performing both better and worse than the technology it replaced, is there a way to work around this problem? Other users suggested tossing out the Mouserug and replacing it with a drab mouse pad, but I would sooner revert to the old mouse. Any ideas?
