I have a PowerPC Mac G5 using Mac OSX 10.5.8. I downloaded Safari 5.0 and have had nothing but repeatedly crashing. o have sent in repoorts with no replies from Apple. Also websites come real slow with Safari 5.0. Anyone else having this problem and does Apple know of this problem? Hope Apple has a fix soon for this problem.
It keeps crashing on me too. I've Emptied the Cache and Reset Safari to no avail. I had to download Adobe Flash again because certain media rich sites were no longer loading. I really regret upgrading to 5.0. I never had any problems with the previous version.
Just ran system updates on my Macintel Tower running Leopard.
Thought nothing of it, as I always wait to update. Did not notice
that a new version of Safari was loading. Restarted system, and
now Safari no longer works. Crashes every time I try to start the
app. Tried rebooting machine, and it still craps out every single
time. it will not launch. One time it showed me some weird error
that Sparkle plug-in was at fault. But I never installed sparkle
on my machine, unless Safari did. So what gives, how do I get a
working Apple Browser again ?? I had to install Firefox just to
write this post....
Yes how can I copy and paste the probem report(the report that comes up after crashing, the apple report)? i tried to copy and paste it but i go up to edit and the copy is not highlighted. it fairly long report, do I place it here on my message or email to you Bee? Thank you!

Open up the finder (DoubleFaced Blue thingie, lol)
Click on the house icon (Your Home Folder).
Then go to Library folder.
In that, find the Logs folder.
There, open Crash Reporter and look for the mot recent Safari log.
Apparently Safari Ad Blocker installed it, but even after removing this,
Safari still craps out. So I tried the retrograde / downgrade procedure to get back to Safari 4.0.5. Using Pacifist and the installer from Apple's site for Leopard. Followed procedure exactly, restarted and now that version of Safari does not work either. Well done Apple, you screwed up everything all because of your silly feud with Adobe is what the other sites are saying. I will give Apple one more shot to fix this problem with some kind of an updater or new version of Safari, if that still doesn't work. Then I will never use their browser again, ever !! Really frustrating considering everything was working perfectly this morning, then I had a little downtime so I thought I would check updates to catch up on things. So glad I wasted all that time just so Apple's new version could screw up my machine. This was such a stupid microsoft kind of thing to do.
Hi david I am having similar problems on daughters iMac (1.8ghz Intel Mac Core Duo Running Mac OS 10.5.8) since auto update to Safari 5 yesterday - Safari 5, Mac OS security update and itunes were updated simultaneously.
After update was completed then opening Safari 5.0 no start up window appeared. So I go to a bookmark and/or into history and click on a site and only get a grey blank window on the bottom left hand side of my desk top. The application then unexpectedly quits.
So I made a copy of Safari 5 from my other Mac (whrer it is working fine and copied it onto the iMac, restarted but still had the same identical problem. So I then copied Java Preferences across in the same manner and still no joy! Still the exact same problem.

I don't know if this is your problem also but would be great if I could find a solution!!
