My son-in-law downloaded a bunch of pictures of my granddaughters from his Mac to my Ipad. Now that I am home I want to put them on my Mac. I have not yet synced my Ipad with my computer as I got it when I was visiting my daughter and this will be the first time I connect it to my home computer. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
Are they on the ipad in an album called Saved Photos? If so, you can use iphoto to import them as from a camera.
If he sync'ed them from his itunes/iPhoto, they will be erased as soon as you sync photos with a different computer.
There is a way to retain them with 3rd party photo apps, by performing a slight change to the photo and then saving the edited photo. Most apps save edited photos to the Saved Photos album. The change can be minute and un-noticable. Then you can import them with iphoto.

If he uses iPhoto on his Mac and has a MobileMe account, he can publish/upload an iPhoto album of these photos to his MobileMe Gallery which you can have access to with iPhoto on your Mac for transfer from iPhoto on your Mac to your iPad.
red555 - the photos were synced from his itunes/iphoto. I will try and use a 3rd party app to transfer them to my computer. There are too many to email - six years of photos. I am glad you replied before I tried to sync it myself and lose all the pictures. Thank you.
