So for some reason when I sync my iPhone 3G, the voice memos won't sync to my iTunes library.

The "Sync voice memos" box is checked and older voice memos from April and before synced in the past.

Now there's just a Voice Memos folder under my iPhone Tab and the new voice memos won't appear in my iTunes Library at all.

I want to convert them to Mp3 but that option is grayed out under the iPhone Voice Memos folder.

Is this just a bug? I recently bought a new computer running Windows 7, so I'm wondering if this is a common issue with iTunes?

Any suggestions?

Okay, so after I posted this, I checked for an iTunes update. And then I updated iTunes. And now my memos are in my Library. So yay.

I have exactly the same problem but only after upgrading my iPhone 3GS to iOS4. I now listen to my voic e memos and delete them from the iPhone before syncing!

I see this problem has been resolved. Where do I get a link to the successful solution??

I have the same problem, but I have the latest iTunes, the latest OS etc. etc. Until last week my voice memos synched fine. Now they do not. Nor do they on my iPod Touch.

But they do from my older iPod Nano.

The difference is that the files on the Nano (including ones created today), and the files created up to 31 July 2010 are Apple Lossless files.

The files created now by the voice memo app (and by a couple of other free recording apps) are AAC files and presumably whatever recognises new files is only looking for Apple Lossless.

I cannot find any settings for voice memos, either on the phone, Touch or iTunes.

Anyone any idea why this has changed? AAC files take up less space on the devices but there's not much point using them if we cannot synchronise the files to our computers.

Even though this topic is considered answered, my Voice Memos weren't syncing and the software update didn't fix it. So, I did this:

    1) I backed up and synced my ipod
    2) deleted the voice memos playlist in iTunes (my playlist was empty already)
    3) deselected "include voice memos" under the Music tab
    4) clicked "Apply"
    5) when sync was done, shut down iTunes
    6) disconnected and reconnected iPhone and restarted iTunes
    7) reselected "include voice memos" under the Music tab
    8) clicked "Apply"

A new Voice Memo playlist was created with my voice memos in iTunes.

It's possible you can skip the step of deleting the playlist. I was just trying everything I could think of to get it going again. Maybe you can skip the whole first half and just shut down iTunes and reconnect device and sync again! So try and let us all know.

I think what was happening - and why it will work for some to upgrade their software - was because I had an iPod Touch with 3.1 syncing memos to iTunes before. Maybe the iPhone with ios 4 couldn't sync to the folder already created?
