iphone keeps saying searching nothing fix it

i have a iphone and its on 3.1.2 and i have restored it and factory restored it to help the problem is when ever i put in my sim card the phone shows the bars for like 3 seconds then goes way ad stays on searching or on no service i live in a area with 4 bars so its not the signal.. i need help plz cuz i stuck using my old phone

iphone 2g 8gb, iPhone OS 3.1.2

Why are you using 3.1.2? How did you restore to that version and not 3.1.3? Is this phone jailbroken or hacked to unlock?

i restored it to this version by downloading the os from online and holding shift and clicking on restore and choosing that os file

i havent put 3.1.3 just incase i have to jailbreak or if i ever have to sell it it will go for more jailbroken and its not jb or hacked or unlocked

1. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

2. Try a new SIM card.

3. Bring it to Apple to check for hardware malfunction.

tired 1 and number 2 my sim is good cuz it works in my other phone perfect ..guesss i will have to drive the 30 mins to the apple store

im on 3.1.3 after resetting to factory settings and it is doing the EXACT same thing. It must be some kind of software glitch. Let me know if you find any answers to this issue. I am afraid it has something to do with the phase-out of iphone OG. It gets full bars, then vanishes. My wife has a 3GS and she has full bars. Weird. If I find anyhing, I will let you know!

I have no signal problem with my OG IPhone! All bars i can get 🙂
I think it´s not a Software problem. coz original version should have the best suport for it. Tell us what the Apple store think or do/did later...
