Jun 20, 2010 4:30 AM in response to dbuddeby acaurora,How about Ethernet?? Does it work for you?? Can you possibly upload the kexts here? -
Jun 20, 2010 6:27 AM in response to acauroraby Hotman2009,I am going into a mac store later today. I am going to ask them for a mac mini restore cd. I will even pay them $30 for it. I just wanna be able to install this without having problems like i am currently having. This is very annoying, and Apple should fix this. Just because i opted for the version with 2 hard drives does not mean i cannot enjoy the client version as well. We will see what happens. -
Jun 20, 2010 7:44 AM in response to dbuddeby Bill Lockhart1,I too bought the Mac Mini server with the intent of installing basic snow Leopard.
After a lot of trial and error, this is worked for me.
download this (AND ONLY THIS) http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1048.
hook your new Mini up to an another Mac and start up your new Mini holding down the "T" key.
Launch the file you downloaded, find the hard drive on your new Mini and install the above file. -
Jun 20, 2010 7:48 AM in response to Bill Lockhart1by Dah•veed,And where are you installing that Combo update? Over SL Server? On the blank HDD? If on the blank HDD, is that a complete SL installation? What about the Mac mini specific update after? -
Jun 20, 2010 7:55 AM in response to Bill Lockhart1by acaurora,Does this enable Ethernet/SDXC as well? I still have yet to find a solution for getting the Ethernet to work, short of getting the restore disc for the mid-2010 Mac Mini. -
Jun 20, 2010 9:17 AM in response to acauroraby Hotman2009,Just as an update from me Mac store experiance. I walked in with my old Snow Leopard OS X 10.6 dvd they returned it and gave me a new OS X 10.6.3 dvd. Now i am going to backup my Kexts just in case and going to install it. I will report back with findings.
The installer does not start. FAIL!
Going to try a few different things tho.

Jun 20, 2010 9:35 AM in response to Hotman2009by Bill Lockhart1,I reformatted both hard drives and installed SL on to the first drive on my new mini. -
Jun 20, 2010 9:44 AM in response to NevBullby acaurora,I think I may do something similar to what dbudde did -
1. Install SL Server on the 2nd hard drive
2. Copy the AppleSDXC.kext >>AND<< the .kext for the ethernet controller (which should be described under System Profiler) to the main hard drive running normal Snow Leopard
3. Reboot
All I gotta do now is go get the external SuperDrive. Will report back when I do. -

Jun 20, 2010 9:54 AM in response to Dah•veedby acaurora,Thanks. Are there any specific commands I need to use in Terminal to copy/replace the .kexts?? I haven't used a Mac in ages... I for some reason don't believe that installing these .kexts is as simple as drag and drop and then restart. -
Jun 20, 2010 9:59 AM in response to acauroraby Dah•veed,Usually it asks for authentication with an admin user name and password. -
Jun 20, 2010 10:02 AM in response to Dah•veedby acaurora,Okay. So that's all I need to do then?
Did you get a mid-2010 Mini as well?? -
Jun 20, 2010 10:02 AM in response to Dah•veedby dbudde,You need to make sure the owner and permissions are the same after the copy. I did the following:
cd /Volumes/Server \HD/System/Library/Extensions/
cp -r AppleSDXC.kext /Volumes/Macintosh \HD/System/Library/Extensions/AppleSDXC.kext -
