I have to switch bluetooth on and off to use bluetooth keyboard??

Go into settings, bluetooth, select the keyboard and do a disconnect.

How are you finding using the bluetooth keyboard in general? I'm getting one for my mother and was thinking about getting the keyboard dock, but the bluetooth/wireless sounds interesting if it works well.

Regarding the keyboard dock, some people here have reported problems with the connection on the dock stop connecting properly. That results in the keyboard not working. It seems that the connection is stress a lot during use (i.e., the iPad tends to bend the connection).

I've used my iMac's bluetooth keyboard a little. It does a good job and has the regular keys as opposed to the dock keyboard. I haven't used it for any serious writing and such, but can't see any reason why it wouldn't do a good job.

You would have to turn off the auto lock on the iPad, otherwise you might possibly have to keep reconnecting the keyboard. I haven't tested this but it might be something to consider also.

I have a different problem about the above.
In numbers, my bluetooth keyboard works fine with my powerbook.
But with the iPad, the arrow keys dont move the active cell around.
Is this another Apple glitch? or is there a workaround?
If a glitch, it is a serious one.

I'm afraid I can't be of any help regarding numbers. I haven't found a need to put numbers onto my iPad yet so I can't test it for you.

Do a search of the iPad discussions and maybe try "numbers" to see if anything shows up. I think I may have seen a question about this before.

Auto lock and the Bluetooth keyboard work well together. Smack any key on the Bluetooth keyboard while the iPad is locked and up pops the unlock dialog box. Just us the Bluetooth keyboard to enter your passcode and you are right back into the app you were using when the iPad went to locked.

Turn off your Apple wireless keyboard by pushing and holding the power button a few seconds. Then you will find the Bluetooth indicator on your iPad is still shown but not active. At this point, software keyboard is ready for typing. Turn on your wireless keyboard when you want to use the wireless keyboard.

I have the same issue. I know you can turn bluetooth off in "settings" or turn off the apple wireless keyboard when it's near the iPad and it will disconnect.

However, I'm using this for business and I have the autolock turned on. If I'm using the iPad with the wireless keyboard, and I pack up for the day to go, without turning the settings off or the wireless keyboard off, the next time I pull up the iPad, the autolock screen comes up with no place to type (software keyboard). If I don't have the wireless keyboard handy, there is no other way to turn off the bluetooth, or bring up the software keyboard.

There really should be someway to address this. Perhaps when the autolock shows up expecting the wireless keyboard, you could double tap the screen and the software keyboard would appear and/or ask you if you want to turn off the bluetooth connection for the keyboard.

Try the "eject" key.

Oh...thanks for letting me know. That sounds like a design flaw. How about the bluetooth keyboard - have you used that? If so - how is it?
