Macbook Air and Netflix

I can't stream Netflix.

When I click "play" on Netflix, I get the Netflix error saying I need OSX > 10.4.8, > 1GB Ram, and Safari 3 or higher. I have all three: OSX 10.5.8, 2GB ram and Safari 5. My son has a Macbook pro and can stream Netflix with no difficulty, from the same wireless router.

Do I need to change a setting or add a plug-in? I have Intego Virus Barrier and Net Barrier x5 - could these be the culprits?

Thanks!

Macbook Air, Mac OS X (10.5.8), 2 GB Ram

I would start by totally getting rid of that. There is no need for it. User uploaded file

You need to install Microsoft's Silverlight to stream Netflix. When I started using my Gen 1 MBA with Netflix I was told automatically to download and install. With your AntiVirus you may need to install Silverlight manually. You can get it at Apple:

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/development_tools/silverlight.html

or at microsoft

http://www.silverlight.net/getstarted/

Hope this helps!

I went to install Silverlight, and got the message that my browser "might not be supported." After that message, Silverlight would not download.

At that point, I went into NetBarrier X5, the firewall, and completely defeated everything. Voila, Silverlight and Netflix. I then began resetting the firewall. It appears the offending setting is Privacy - data - surf - information hiding - hide information about my computer and web browser. With that unchecked, I'm good to go.

Thanks so much to all who responded for your help and suggestions!
