are you using compressed video? (it actually puts more stress on processors).
Try it with uncompressed video, to see if stuttering persists.
Also try to run at 32 bit instead of 64.
Hope this helps you until you find a permanent solution.
(I don't know how much ram you have, but in 64 bit it probably needs more).
I'm having the same issues but with other software. Movist and VLC used to play back *.MTS files from my Canon VIXIA HF100 ACVHD near flawlessly. Quicktime did a great job with files created with my Kodak Zi8. Now both programs are playing back files very choppy since upgrading to 10.64!
This is a disappointment as 10.6.3 was working just great. Maybe we'll have to wait for 10.6.5 to fix the issue. I have to check and see if FCP has any issues. Not a super heavy user of FCP.
