TextPlus App and 200 Text Plan Question

Hey everyone I've a pre-order for the iphone 4, and my text plan is 200 (which i might move up at a later time) but i want to use the Text Plus App, i've heard awesome things about it, but ALSO my Data play is 200 MB (again i MIGHT raise that limit later but I'm a very casual web-browser/emailer etc)

my question is how much data does the Text plus App use? i know its ad-supported so if i'm texting a lot using that App, do i have to worry about hitting my data limit? AND also what are some drawbacks of textplus say, vs another text app?

Also do i have to be on Wifi or 3G for this app?

thanks!

and P.S. please dont suggest i will need more Data or more Texts on my plans, because thats bleeding obvious, i just dont want to pay more $$$$

Hard for a user to tell you really how much data an app somebody else made will send as none of us know exactly what data it is sending. Yes your txt, but one can assume other info of course and polling for txts when open. Also the adds will be data and they normally rotate so will keep loading and loading.

If on WiFi of course then counts nothing towards your plan. And yes it works on cell signal as well. Just about any data app does expect for those that try to stream a lot of data, normally they have to fight with carrier about that.

Text alone uses very little data - KBs, but if the app also supports exchanging photos, exchanging photos will obviously use more data which will depend on the size of the attached photo and if the app sends a reduced resolution of the photo or as full resolution and size.

You should contact the app developer for the app regarding this question.

i have text free (app) i am not sure about text plus, i never heard of it, but I will tell you that 200 text messages will last me about 2 minutes, i use 5-6700 texts every cycle. I used up 326 in one day....so i think if you are a hardcore text-er then you should go with the unlimited text. As far as data, I am an excessive user again. I have unlimited now and I just may keep it. My usage varies from month to month and the least that I have used is 391 MB and the most I have used is 576 MB. I hope this helps you!

I downloaded textfree and textplus. + gives you a username, you can recieve texts from phones but they have to send the text to textplus, then it gets sent to you. Free gives you an actual number that people can text you at, and that has proven to be the easier way to go. They are both free right now- i think tf is $6 a year to go add free, way cheaper than a text plan from att.

You are right, the adds use up data, but i think it is rather an insignificant amount.
