Trying To Play Runescape With 10.6.4

I'm a keen RS player and I'm having the same problem; having done a bit of Googling it seems to be an issue with OpenGL not working quite as seamlessly with the new software update as one would have hoped.

Normally, if you play RS in HD, OpenGL will be the default graphics setting so the best way of still being able to play RuneScape with the new update is to change the RS graphics settings onto safe mode for the time being.

I'll be contacting Apple support about this epic FAIL - it is clearly not a problem with the game itself btw as I was happily playing RuneScape with OpenGL graphics settings not 10 mins before I updated and then, lo and behold, after my Mac restarted I had flickery black lines and the only way out of Safari was to force quit via Activity Monitor.

Yes, the update messed it up. I do not know what is wrong, but I think Open Gl has a problem. I tried safe mode in the Falador party room with 1000+ people in it, and it didn't crash. I only played for 15 min there, so I don't know if safe mode will work. Hopefully Apple will fix it soon. This update has "so" many bugs. Also, its kind of weird. It sometimes makes some of my icons on my desktop dock black with white spots on it. Though this does not make my computer crash. I wonder how a browser game can affect your desktop...

Well this makes me feel better (not). At least it's not my IMac.I have exactly the same problem. The freezes are a total pain

RS forums say that Apple is aware but it would appear this issue s not confined to RS as other forums such as WoW are reporting similar issues.

Anyone know how (if) this needs to be reported. From google it seems that Apple might be sticking their head in the sand on this one.

This has happened to me too. I've tried it in firefox too but it doesn't make any difference. I think Apple has started getting glitches. (iphone4, mac os10.6.4) Please fix it quickly because HD is so much better.

i am a keen player and i have noticed it when my mac started flashing and flickering in black and white. if anyone has reported this to apple so that they can make a new software update it would be great. this happend to me 6 times in a row. does anyone know where to report this and if they could post a link it would be good

Phew..I thought it was just my computer!
So the answer is either: revert back to the earlier OS version, or wait for an update?

Jagex is aware of the problem...now its a waiting game on who will come out with a patch first

yeah ive had this same problem over and over again. i tried turning the brightness down to like last notch and most of the time i can play longer before the game goes all flashy. but im not 100% sure that thats completely true. but its worth a try. hope they find a patch soon.

Er no its an apple problem - runescape is not the only game with this issue!

The problem is still there despite an update

This is a persistent issue that I can reproduce over and over so it's somewhat surprising Apple hasn't released an update to fix this yet. Pretty much any game that utilizes OpenGL freezes or incurs major graphics issues.

I've submitted a bug report and I hope all of you do as well.
