Film don't look so good after import from camera?!

A newbie question! 🙂

I have used a PD-150 , which showed a lot of great colors in the display Before importing to FinalCutPro 7 Studio. Now in the program FinalCut pro it looks almost grey and the quality is far more worse than it showed before. I have checked so that I imported it in DV-PAL and the right size, in this case 4:3. Is there any other thing I need to look on? What presets?

I also tried to import a system-camera photograf, which looked great in Iphoto and Lightroom, but when I imported it (Import-files-DSC8797.jpg) it looked just as grey and un-colorful as the movie!

I have a Mac OS X 10.6.3.

Anybody who can help me? Thank you for taking time and reading/answering my question!

I think the sad truth is that you trusted the lcd monitor on the camera to be color accurate. It is not. Probably the best thing you can do is shoot with an external, properly calibrated monitor on set so you can see what your camera is seeing.

Typically the lcd is painted hot and with a lot of contrast, but this is not what the sensors are actually recording. And if you adjust it to compensate for bright shooting conditions, you are only making it worse.
