1st gen iPhones officially obsolete?

So are us early adopters out of luck? Our phones are officially obsolete since they're not being updated anymore?

self-built, Windows Vista, Vista Ultimate x64, Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz, GeForce 8800 GTS, 6GB RAM

Seriously? Go find another phone that is 3 years old or older and see what type of updates are available for it. NONE. What do you expect from a three year old phone man? This isn't the 80's. I used to change out my 500$ video card every two years to keep up with the games. If you still have the original iphone then JB it and use it to its full potential. Or keep it as a JB iTouch and get the new motorola x-treme that will be debuted by verizon on the 23, the day before the iPhone. I think to switch a few people to verizon.

Yeah if this new job starts soon at this is just pushing me more towards an Android upgrade. After spending $450 on this phone it would be nice to have the latest updates since it's still perfectly cable of running them.

That's just the point - the original iPhone is not capable of running iOS 4 due to the many more processor-hungry features it contains.

You're free to keep using your current phone - if you like it today, you'll like it tomorrow. It doesn't turn into a brick just because you can't run the latest iOS on it.
