iOS 4 - Gmail Push - Mails stucks in the outbox

Gmail is not working when set up with exchange. Getting connection with server failed message.
I tried deleting and setting up the account again but no use.

I have the same problem. To make things even worse I can't switch to IMAP because then I would loose my calendars. After several tries I think I have do try downgrading back to older iPhone OS.

iOS4 appears to have new options when configuring a Google account in Mail. It now has a Calendar and Notes option. So switching to IMAP should allow you to keep your calendars.

I have the same problem; add to it the fact that my exchange calendar doesn't load up.

Same problem here "Cannot Get Mail - The connection to the server failed"
This is the message I have.
Help would be great because, as many of us, I really depend on e-mail.

Gmail does seem to be having issues with iOS4. Seems to be being reported a bit on these boards.
At least glad to know its not just me, so if it is an issue a fix for it wont be far behind. Gotta expect these kinds of things.

I have the same problems with the exchange server setup and constantly getting connection failure, but it is possible to get fx the calendar to work by setting up af Google Account instead of exchange. It will not give the same functionality at all but they are there.

Hope either google og apple will get this problem solved because it's huge!

Have the same problem. Just upgraded my ipod and I am unable to access my gmail.

It seems to be working again, I still get the error message from time to time but I guess it must be overload, not sure.

i've had ios4 for a week or so and i can say that this has been the norm. i was hoping the official (non GM) release would fix it, but I guess not.

Set up your Gmail account using the Gmail icon and you'll get Calendar syncing for free.

I am having the same problem with my 3GS after updating to iOS 4.0 today - not getting new mail notifications via Push as I had before and general stalling out when communicating with the Gmail server.

Similar problem. All my emails no longer working, mobileme, gmail and yahoo. Phone mesage is checking for emails but no emails are being received nor can I send.

Multitasking not working, so generally the upgrade hasn't been a hgreat experience

Thanks for all the reports. Unfortunately, Google Sync has been undergoing an unplanned maintenance this afternoon, and we have been working to fully restore the service. This has affected Gmail, Calendar, and contacts sync on all devices today since 10am, PST. Our primary focus is to get the service 100% stable again for all devices, and we're concurrently running tests on iOS4 specifically to troubleshoot any particular issues with the upgrade.

Again, we appreciate your patience as we work to improve Google Sync.

In addition to the general Google/Gmail exchange syncing difficulties that everyone's been mentioning, I'm having the *same problem as the original poster*. Specifically, any mail I send from any app (like a sending a link from Safari) will just end up in the outbox and not send until I go into the outbox, open the message and hit send.

My incoming emails seem so show up, albeit really slowly and they're generally not pushed. I'm confident Google will resolve that soon, but this problem of emails just going to the outbox seems unrelated. Has anyone else had this issue or solved it?
