Q: Best way to install iOS4 on brand new iPhone 4 is. . .?

Picking up my first iPhone on Thursday. Is iOS4 pre-installed, or will it be downloaded and installed during the first setup? If the latter, is it correct to assume this will be done before anything is actually set up?

Problem(s) seem to center on backing up previous installed setups. With a brand new phone, this shouldn't be a problem, right?

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

It is preinstalled and will restore items from your previous backup if you had an older generation iPhone.

While I was updating mine, the longest part was in fact backing everything up. If you have a new phone that has not been set up yet, that will avoid that problem. But if you are getting the phone this thursday, then yes, it will have iOS 4 on it already.
