iOS 4 - Visual Voicemail

Just wanted to add to the community knowledge. After upgrading, every time I went to Phone > Voicemail it would dial voicemail, not show me the visual voicemail. Upgrading to iOS 4 erases your password (apparently) so you have to get the phone to prompt you for your 4-digit password.

I accomplished this by going to Settings -> Sounds.

I've tried 0000 and 1234 (both of which I think were AT&T default passwords at different times - I also tried the only 4 digit password I ever use.... it just keeps telling me that I have the wrong password....

nothing on the ATT site to help here and I chatted cust service, but they told me that i had to chat Techical service and gave me a link, but there was no chat button there....

Thank you 0- had this same issue... but I don't think I know my visual voicemail password.... possibly never changed it - do you know what the default password is??

prior to visual voicemail, you didn't need a PW to listen to messages, but the option was there if you needed it.

my suggestion is to call yourself from your iphone...if your messages start playing right away, you should be able to wait for a prompt to either add or change your password.

GOOD LUCK 🙂

Finally!!! After 2 hours of troubleshooting, I finally got me 3G Internet back. I tried calling Apple, even opened a case. After doing all of these, it finally reset.
Popped out the SIM card,
Reset network settings (twice)
Turned airplane mode on/off (twice)
Turned 3G off, watched it go to "E"
Turned on 3G
Hard reset by holding home and on/off button

All I can say is too keep trying.

Got my visual voicemail back - called ATT ...611 and followed the prompts to reset your voicemail password... they texted me a temp password, but I never had to use it

When I went back to the voicemail screen, there was a "set up" screen there allowing me to set a password... had to re-record my greeting as well, but once i did and saved the screen, all my visual voicemail messages came back...

...except that, for me, the solution doesn't work.

Resetting the Voicemail PIN did cause my phone to take me through the voicemail setup process. But after I create my greeting message and press Save, it fails with the message "Voicemail Unavailable. Unable to connect. Try again later."

I've rebooted the phone multiple times to no avail, it's the same every time. I have tried resetting the network settings. No change. I'm stymied!

Same problem here. "Voicemail Unavailable." I don't know what it's going to take to get this back. I tried resetting my network settings, I was on the phone with AT&T for 45 minutes earlier today, and I did a full restore and nothing. If it was just visual voicemail that would be one thing. That's just a nuisance. But I have absolutely no data connection, which is absolutely essential for my job. Yikes!

I'm having the same problem - no 3g service. I tried to set up visual voicemail several times. But receive message - "Voicemail Unavailable. Unable to connect. Try again later." I sat on the phone with ATT then Apple the ATT and Apple. No solution on their end. They said they are working on the issue and to reset network settings periodically throughout the day. This has not worked. I need to 3g, not for voicemail but for email.

Any solution?
