Custom APN + iOS 4

I used my 3GS until today with a specific configuration profile (created with
iPhone Configuration Utility) that include my company's APN and a Proxy server.
Everything OK until I upgraded to iOS 4: now the authentication on APN fails ("PDP Authentication failed" is the message). If I try to see which APN configuration settings are active on my iPhone (i pick "Celluar Data Network") the page crashes and i get returned to Springboard!

iPhone 3GS 16Gb, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

I try con configure manually APN and it works correctly: the problem is when I configure APN & Proxy using iPhone COnfiguration Utility....

You can configure manually only APN: proxy server setting is accessible only via Configuration Utility.
Today I wrote to Apple (using iPhone Feedback web page: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html) to notify this bug: Just do the same!!!

Nessuna news, come ho scritto ho già segnalato ad Apple tramite la pagina di feedback. Ho anche provato con la mail relativa ai bug, ma devi essere uno sviluppatore per scrivere.
Sto aspettando il rilascio della 4.0.1 di cui si è vociferato per i problemi di iPhone 4....

Questa volta la cara Apple ha sbagliato di grosso !!!!!
Credo il problema sia nel profilo generato da iPhone Configuration Utility, è come se il suo formato sia incompatibile con quello utilizzato da IOS4 nella parte riguardante APN, se ci hai fatto caso fino a quando non modifichi la parte APN riesci ad accedere alla configurazione di rete, come inserisci un APN l'Iphone crasha. Stavo cercando di editare a mano il file interessato dalla configurazione ma non ricordo il nome.
Ma è possibile che solo noi abbiamo riscontrato il problema?

Il problema è proprio quello.
Io per ora ho editato a mano l'APN, ma non potendo accedere al proxy, ovviamente uso solo la posta.
Non siamo gli unici, ma temo che negli USA si adotti più la coppia APN pubblico + VPN, e quindi l'attenzione su questa cosa non sia massima. E' vero anche che Apple sta puntando parecchio sul mondo Enterprise. Speriamo!!!!

ho provato anche la strada della vpn, ma la ns azienda non sono rilascia certificati validi per iphone

ciao, ho ovviamente anche io stesso problema - indovinate in quale azienda lavoro 🙂 ? -
aggiungo un elemento alla discussione se può essere utile:
ho provato a impostare, sempre tramite configuration utility, il profilo con apn aziendale e proxy ma senza pwd. L'iphone ovviamente non naviga (perchè non si connette) ma la pagina dei settaggi apn non va in crash.
Però, anche aggiungendo la pwd successivamente, l'iphone continua a non navigare ...

Got the same problem at work. And the strange thing is, some people have this problem, while others don't.
Someone found a fix for this? Or will we just have to wait for Apple to come up with the sollution?

La pwd che imposti tramite Configuration Utility è quella dell'APN, non del proxy, che, invece, ti viene chiesta di volta in volta.
Ci provo per curiosità.

Confermo. Anche mettendo la pwd a mano mi da "errore di autenticazione pdp". Evidentemente con il profilo caricato non digerisce la stringa della pwd...

Now iPCU do not generate any errors uploading the APN profile.
Anyway iPhone seems not to read it correctly: I uploaded the new profile (APN + Proxy) and both mail and safari are able to run. When I go back to manually configuration of APN mail works (not Safari because is not possible to set Proxy server manually)....
