iBooks not syncing

I put the iBooks app on my iPhone 3gs with iOS4 today, but I cannot seem to get a book to sync between the iPad and the iPhone. I can't find a button to initiate a sync, and it doesn't appear to be doing it automatically.

Are others seeing this?

iMac i7, iPad 3G, Mac Book Pro, iPhone 3gs, Mac OS X (10.6.4), Apple TV 160GB

So if I understand correctly, you have to sync both your iPhone and iPad on your computer to have the bookmarks sync and be able to jump to last point read? And you actually have to set a bookmark, it's not automatic? Is there no way that this can happen through my mobileme account? If not, Kindle is much better implementation of this than Apple's.
I have upgraded my phone to iOS4, etc.

Okay, I think I have a similar "bookmark sync" issue here.

iPhone 4 / iPod Touch (2g) - both iOS4, iBooks 1.1, Sync Bookmarks enabled

I bookmarked a page from a book stored in iPhone4, then I opened same book in iPod Touch with a hope that I can resume from a bookmarked page on iPhone4. BUT, this didn't happen. I don't see any bookmark.

How do I sync bookmarks between devices wirelessly?? Book is epub file.

I've tried everything with no success. I would appreciate clarification on a couple of issues if someone would be so kind.

1. Will bookmarks sync wirelessly or does it have to be via a usb/itunes wired sync?
2. Will bookmarks sync for epub files that were not purchased via itunes?

I've attempted several times to get bookmark syncing to work with no success. Any further direction would be very much appreciated.

+Help, please!+

There is a lot of incorrect information on this post.

1. Syncing between devices requires that you add the books to iBooks via the computer first.
2. Once any epub book or PDF is on each device, it will find the furthest read location automatically, you do not need to bookmark it or do anything else.
3. When you close a book, PDF or the iBooks app, it will sync the location of what you read while it was open. When you open the iBooks app on another app, it will quickly update the furthest location read.

I did notice that if I redownloaded a book from the store and then tried to sync between my iPhone and iPad, it didn't work for me either. A sync with my computer to "calibrate" the iBooks app solved that problem.

I bought an iBook via my iPad and wanted to read it on my iPhone 3G. I simply redownloaded it onto my iPhone without connecting my iPhone to iTunes.

iBooks syncs last page read between my iPhone and iPad automatically with no problems. I can read from my iPad at home then pick up where I left off on my iPhone when I'm out of the house with no syncing issues.

I didn't have to tap the red ribbon or create a bookmark--saving last page read between devices was automatic.

I had this issue as well, but found it went away if I quit iBooks on my iPad or iPhone before launching it on the other. Once I did this, the syncing occurred, and with a nifty page flipping animation.

So, the syncing for me did not occur unless I quit iBooks before trying to launch the app on the other device.
