My audiobooks are not recognized by my iPhone after upgrading to iOS4. They worked fine prior to upgrade. They sync, but are not seen by the ipod app. When I select audiobooks it displays a white image with "No Audiobooks" on it. I know they are transferred to my iPhone because they show up in iTunes-Devices-iPhone-Books, and eat up a lot of memory. The only way I can get them to play is if I create a playlist and sync it, and select playlists. Anyone else have this problem?
Upon further experimentation, I have found that videos are not recognized either. I can search for, and find, the audiobook files, but not the video files.
Instead of m4b files I tried using mp3 audiobooks, tagged as such, but that didn't work. If I tag them as music, they show up. I have a genius appointment tomorrow. Hope that helps. As of now, I don't know if it is an iPhone problem or an iTunes problem, or both.
I have the same issue with my audiobooks but not videos. They show up in search and will play but don't appear in the list of audiobooks. It did create an "Audible" folder but that too is empty.
I also have this problem. No audio books... I do have the audible "folder" but nothing in it. I can find my audio books via search but that's not ideal...
My audiobooks are also not available for sync...not is my audible playlist. Very bummed about this. I hope it works on my new iPhone (wishful thinking). I am in the middle of a book 😟
Checking the Books genre did not help me. It only brought in some CD audiobooks we loaded to iTunes, not my extensive audible library (or parts thereof). In fact, audiobooks is missing as a genre in iTunes now.
Searching the homescreen also did not help me. I noticed after upgrading to iOS4 that I had a lot more space on my iPhone. Now I know why...my audiobooks did not come over.
Ok, I get it now! The Audiobooks have been moved to the Books tab in iTunes. They are no longer listed under Music. And you might have to scroll down to see it when you are in the Books tab.
I show Audible (3) under Audiobooks which is correct but Audiobooks is blank except for the Audbile subfolder which is empty as well. Spotlight finds them and I can play them.
I synced my iPhone to my other mac and same problem, so I restored by iPhone and set it up as a new phone and all seems to be working correctly. It took about 8 minutes to restore. Now I get the fun of installing and setting up all my apps again, joy...
