iPhone not working with Pioneer Car stereo

SO, I am NOT a very happy person right now. I upgraded to OS4 and now my car systems won't recognize the Iphone. The stereo cost more than the **** phone and one of them is about to go in the trash.
I see other people are having the same problem. This is NOT Pioneers problem, it is APPLE's.
When can I expect a solution? In the day, Apple stuff just worked. That was the beauty of it. I don't know what has changed at Apple, but the new products and half the OS updates are crap. Did Apple hire a bunch of engineers from Microsoft?
I am not even going to start on MobleMe cuz it would go on for days and probably get pulled for being off topic.
Looking forward to a quick solution to help restore my faith a little.

I have a Sony CDX-GT640UI headunit that wouldn't work this morning after upgrading to the new iphone os 4.0 also. After talking to Apple and Sony, they didn't have any solutions. As soon as I got home from work, I found this discussion and decided to give the hard reset a try. IT WORKED!!! I can play my music again with my iphone via USB connection on the headunit. Thanks for the help!

FYI: Hard reset is when you hold the top button and the home button together until the Apple logo comes up. The "slide to turn phone off will come on, but keep on holding the buttons down until the Apple logo comes up. Once the phone reboots, connect it to the car head unit and it should work.

Yes, the solution provided by Alhedward worked correctly - the advice is spot on as basically the stereo just needs to once again 'recognize' your phone. If you are using a different phone, keep in mind , you'll need to again pair the phone via bluetooth but yes, the solution works and I had no issues with Bluetooth once I paired the phone.

I just wish iOS 4.0 had a way for us to turn off the Bluetooth audio and keep the Bluetooth calling on the phone as I prefer to listen to my music over USB (better sound quality) and not Bluetooth audio.

I've tried hard resets, restoring as a new iphone, trying connecting in every different order, powering up the devices in different orders, tried everything the very nice senior tech from Apple suggested. Nothing works. Due to 4.0, I can no longer use my iphone 3gs/4.0 with my pioneer stereo. Phone sometimes says "device not supported", other times, phone gives no indication error whatsoever, but sound only comes through the stereo for about 5 seconds. Very disappointed. Main use of my iphone now doesn't work at all.

Gentlemen, I'm having some similar issues on my pioneer radio.. I am getting it to play, however the scroll speed while browsing through my music is significantly slower, and if I try to scroll backwards, it stops playing and I get an error message..also, if i get a call while listening to anything, when i plug it back in it wont play, i have to go to the ipod on my phone and hit play then plug it back in.. using a 3gs with ios4 here.. hard reset does nothing.. any help?

i got the same problems:
- iphone 3gs 32gb
- iOS4.0.1
- Pioneer DEH-P6050UB
- iphone sits on a dock connected to the usb cable that connects to the pioneer head unit.

After upgrading to iOS4 problems are:
- iphone no longer charges off the usb (this is my biggest issue)
- after receiving a call and ending call then music playback does not resume - I have to swithch off my car and reconnect iphone to play music (my second biggest issue)
- annoying messages pop up repeatedly upon docking iphone to the stereo
(Charging not supported)
(Accessory not supported)
(This device is not optimised)
These messages eventually stop after being dismissed.
- slow scroll
- music plays ok most of the time. occaisionally get error message on the head unit

I have tried hard rest, normal power off, various combinations and orders to gt rid of the problem without any fix.

If anyone has any ideas/solutions/fixes please post!

cheers

Since I upgraded my 3Gs to 4.01my car stereo although connecting to the iphone does not load
the address book, which did not happen before with os3. My car stereo is a VW rcd510 where I have installed a Kufatec phone adaptor. Would a hard restart solve the problem or it will make things worse?
Kufatec says that apple is the problem !!!!

I'm also having problems. I keep getting ERROR 19 when I try hooking up my iPhone 3GS to Pioneer DEH-3200UB car stereo. Followed instructions in manual without any luck. Tried looking at Pioneer webite for an explanation and a solution ... again no luck. Apple website/support isn't user friendly. Stereo manual states that model is compatible with iPhone 3GS (software version 3.0) ... version on my iPhone is currently 4.0.2. I'm hesitant on restoring settings on iPhone without guarantee of success.

I too have be having problems recieving "Error 19" codes on my DEH-P7100BT deck after updating my iPhone 3GS to iOS 4.0 and 4.01. The Bluetooth connection works fine for both telephone calls and for playing back audio, however it is the USB connection that is pooched.

I have utilized the "turn off the iPhone, turn on the stereo, and then plug the iPhone into the USB" as well as the hard reset method(s), with only partial success. Sometimes the USB connection works, and most of the time I get Error 19. As with others, v3.x worked like a charm, however every iteration of iOS 4 has been problematic. I wish Apple would explain what in the **** they did to the USB software implementation in the "improved" iOS !!

I have also spoken with Pioneer tech support, and there is no firmware update for the deck(s) to resolve this issue, and they appear to be leaving responsibility for a fix to Apple. Apparently 4.1 still has problems. Let's get it right in 4.2, PLEASE !!!!
