iPhone 3GS reboots during your phone call after updating to OS4

I have a major problem with the OS4 update on the iPhone 3GS. After I updated my iPhone 3GS, I can no longer make telephones calls longer then 10 - 15 minutes. After 10 -15 minutes the phone cuts out and I see an Apple symbol. After it's rebooted, I can make another telephone call but the iPhone reboots consistently again after 10 – 15 minutes. Can anyone help with this? Where on apples website can I submit this problem?

I have also noticed that the iPhone now heats up more quickly and the battery consumption is eaten rapidly. How do I fix this?

And before you ask, this never happened before in the previous OS3.

Goood that I found this thread!!!
I have exactly the same problem, and it's driving me crazy!
- Phone reboots after >5 minutes in the call
- Battery drains really fast, even with Notifications turned off and all email accounts removed!

Please give us a fix!

edit: this thread seems to be located wrongly in the 3G section..

I'm having the same trouble. Since upgrade my 3GS to OS 4 it contantly crashes while making phone calls, also the battery is getter hotter. I don't have the multitask icon either. I wish it was a case of apple checking and testing and retesting all models to make it work first time everytime. When will the update come to fix these bugs, or is it a case of apple underestitamated the problems. I have always been over the moon with the i-phone but this update is a pain in the bum please fix. In the meantime I'm going to have to waste hours on a restore. Please get the update out quickly......

Exactly the same problem - iPhone 3GS 16G, updated it on Wednesday and has rebooted at varying times during calls. Went straight to the Apple store to be told to try a restore. There was a carrier update when I connected to iTunes about an hour ago, so I wondered if that would make a difference. I'm with O2.

Did some test calls to my dad, it was good fun trying to pad out a conversation knowing that we were both waiting for the phone to cut out!!

First reboot was after 7mins, then at 18mins 31 sec.

After this reboot I decided to make sure that the only app that was running was the phone app. Strangely, when the phone reboots itself, it doesn't close the apps that are multitasking, so when the phone has restarted they are still there.

I closed them all down and managed a 20min phone call with my dad, then he had to go out so we hung up.

After reading this forum I'm reluctant to restore my phone as it seems a lot of effort for no reward whatsoever!

Not impressed, Apple were my technology fave until this! Its worse than Microsoft's blue screen of death!

Sort it please Apple!

I only just bought mine, and within 5 minutes that occurs almost everytime, I love the phone and actually prefer it over iPhone 4, but this problem is annoying, especially when its an important call. Im certain Apple is aware of this and will fix it along with other bugs in the OS that seem to just eat away at the iPhones more than the iPod Touch's running this iOS.

Getting the same issue. Not sure that Apple is taking this problem seriously. I called support and they were not able to provide any other solution attempt than to reinstall the soft from scratch. But they were not able to promise it would solve the issue. Welcome to MS windows world. "Ur PC has a problem?" "Just format and install from scratch"... No way, enough of this ****! Apple always positioned itself at a higher price tag, no way we can spend time "trying" solutions.
Apple I want a solution. 4.0.1 update was released. There is no mention about any update for those who don't own an iPhone4 and who are getting issues... What's the message behind this? My telephone is less than 1 year old... Is it already to trash to the eyes of Apple?
No wonder, the antenna gate pushed Apple out of its balance. Maybe the price of arrogance?
Solution impatiently awaited.

Same problem here. Phone crash to Apple logo screen after a couple of minutes call time. This is totally unacceptable especially when using the phone for business calls. If this problem is not solved in a couple of days I'll have to look elsewhere for a phone. It's so sad experiencing this as my main reason for buying an iPhone was its stability.

Hi, I also have this issue - iPhone 3Gs restarting during phone calls. I called Apple and they have suggested that the iOS4 upgrade may have brought to light a hardware issue. They have asked me to restore from backup, and test. If this fails I am to restore as new (meaning I lose all sms and other data), and test. If this fails I am to send the handset back for replacement. My handset is still within the warranty period fortunately. I am rather ruing the move to iOS4 now!

Steve.
