Mac Book Pro built in mouse pad not working

Hello,

This has happened to me twice in the past 2 days. After turning the Mac Book Pro on, I will use the built in pad to navigate to my user name to login, but it wont let me click on the user name. Also the LED key brightner F6 will not work, but the F10 key will to increase sound.

The first time I had to restart the laptop and it worked. The second time I let it sit for about 2 minutes and it finally let me click.

Any ideas?

When the trackpad becomes unresponsive, another thing is to physically check the battery. Flip the computer and run your hand across the battery/case junction. The slight difference in height between them should be minimal and uniform.

Next, remove the battery and inspect for signs of swelling and deformation on the surfaces that are normally out of sight when the battery is in place. A swollen battery is going to leak soon and should be replaced ASAP.
