No way to bring keyboard up in Notes

I use this program sometimes to keep a log of my dreams as soon as I wake up, and it's very frustrating trying to go back and change a typo.

If you hold too long and use the magnifying glass it goes straight to select or select all, no keyboard pops up. I can try and click away when the select/select all option but that doesn't work either. If you select something then keyboard doesn't come up for you to make changes.

Make a keyboard popup button at the bottom of the nots page...

This unfortunate, inconvenient behavior continues. Most of the time, when opening an existing note for editing, it is very tedious to get the keyboard to show up. Magnifying glass appears, but no keyboard shows. Move the cursor to the top left (1st character position) and SOMETIMES the keyboard will then appear.

There are about 150 notes in the notebook, and the average size is two pages.

Very inconvenient when you must scroll down a few pages to insert text, and then the glass keyboard will NOT pop up.

The iPad keyboard won't pop up in Notes app, intermittently. There's a magnifying glass cursor, but NO keyboard.

This just started recently. Switching to another app, like Safari, sometimes clears up the problem, sometimes not. Sometimes, switching back and forth a few times clears it up. Seems to be getting harder and harder to make the glass keyboard appear.

Any suggestions? I have 2GB free space on 16GB iPad wifi.
