A way to cut instead of copy and paste

Is there a way of cutting and pasting files/folders well anything really.

For instance, say if I wanted to drag a folder to another drive in my Mac Pro. It copies ok, although I am left with the original folder in its original position, as well as the folder on the new drive (which I want).

Thanks

The Finder does not allow cutting of files, it only uses copy/paste.

You can drag stuff and force a move instead of a copy by holding "cmd". When you press cmd you'll see the green + that indicates a copy will be made disappear.

(Inversely, you can force a copy by holding alt, if you would otherwise get a move)

You can also use third-party Finder substitutes which do use the cut command - eg Path Finder.
