Lower speaker volume after iOS4 update ?

I'm not crazy. I'm 20 and have great hearing. I'm used to using my iPhone as a "shower radio" and now after the 4.0 update the volume of my phone is decreased. I've checked the settings and the volume lock (or whatever it is called) is not set. Anyone having the same issue ?
I've searched, looked through some of the problem threads but have seen nothing..

3GS, iOS 4, POS

Oh well updated to OS 4.1 at my local genius bar and still low volume although the bloke did say I must be an isolated case as he's never heard of this before, so anybody else out there still having trouble with low volume or found a fix for this problem?

Gaz

lol. They're either totally downplaying the issues, or they have no clue what they are talking about. Plenty of posts here say other wise.

have the same problem, thought i was crazy so glad to see others with the same thing. volume on speaker and headphones i would say is half of pre os4. just d/l 4.1 and that didn't fix the problem. wonder if the people not complaining about this really have no problem or were just like me and thinking they were just imagining the fact that i used to not have to max it and still strain to hear anything

Hi Namasivayam

All,
I did notice this after 4.1 update, didn't try the volume EQ setting in Ipod as suggested by one of blog.

This is frustrating. We need to wait for another update to see how it goes.

This thread is quite old and dates back to the original iOS4.0 update from when people first updated from OS3 software.

The reason the volume dropped was for the iPod to conform to new sound level standards in different parts of the world, mainly Europe I think.

To get you volume back to pre iOS4 levels, you need to go to iTunes and select all of your music and then Right-click or Cmd-click (depending on your operating system) and the from then menu select Get Info
Then in the Multiple Item Information window, select Options and change the volume slider to +100%
Click OK to save the change and wait for iTunes to update each track. (the time will depend on the amount of data you have)

Now connect you phone and sync and the new volume level will be changed for each track in the iPod.

Hope this helps

I tried that a few months back, but didnt help, my main problem is the ringtones being so quiet, its my business phone and I cant hear the **** thing when it rings. Made my own ring tone and set the volume higher in itunes but still no difference on the iphone!!

Jailbreaked the phone yesterday as I read something that was available on Cydia to increase the volume, but that didnt work either!!

Back to Nokia I think when my contract is up in 3 months time 😉

Nah, even the factory ringtones are low, bascially, everything from factory or added myself is now half the volume when on max, just absolutely pointless having the phone especially as Apple deny all knowledge that there is a problem with OS 4 on some handsets.

Just wish id never updated to OS 4 or at least have backed up my SHSH files to revert back to OS 3..

Ive know of 13 handsets now which all have the same problem in my workplace, so its not as isolated as first thought.

Cant wait for my contract to end in 4months time!!

Yeah tried all that.

Even sliding the volume slider back and to constantly, and also pushing the headphone jack in and out.

Downloaded a few more programs via Cydia last night which claim to increase the volume, but didnt work. Prob would on a phone that didnt have a volume problem.

Ive diverted all calls to a bog standard Nokia, just so I dont miss calls.

Theres got to be a update to fix this, its obviously software related, reason being Ive had the speaker module replaced from a working phone with normal volume and a brand new part to, and still it is low. Even tried it with out the speaker grill in, just in case that was muffling the sound in some way..

One day it might be cured!!
