iOS4.0 not syncing contacts via Bluetooth to Vtech DECT 6.0 Phone system

Hello Everyone,

I just upgraded my wife and my iphones to OS 4.0 this morning. So far I haven't experienced most of the problems being reported in many discussions but I have one that seems to be pretty unique. I have a Vtech DECT 6.0 home phone system. It is able to have 2 cell phones connected to it via bluetooth. It basically makes you cell phone work like a land line through bluetooth. It is also able to sync your contacts through bluetooth and was working perfectly until today's upgrade. The phones connect correctly and I can make and recieve calls but when I sync the contacts they only show the phone numbers on my Vtech phone and not the names of the contacts. On OS Ver 3.1.3 the names and contact type (eg. cell, home, etc.) transferred to the Vtech without a problem and displayed correctly in the directory, now just the number shows up. Its not terribly helpful when you cant see who the number is associated with. Anyone have any similar problems? Any suggestions?

I have already re-paired both phones with the Vtech as well as re-synced both contacts with the Vtech. Every time I do this I get the same result. If I cant find a solution here I will send a complaint to apple but I want to be sure I try everything else first.

Thanks

P.S. My phone is an iPhone 3G and my wifes phone is a 3GS

Hi everyone. I seem to have almost the same problem, but not with a Dect Phone but when using my iPhone wit iOs4 in my car with my bluetooth carkit. with iPhone OS 3.1.3 my contacys came up in alfabetical order. I set it to begin with the first name. On iPhone iOS4 it doesn't work, it always begins with the last namen. Anyone knows a solution?

Thanks

I too have had this problem, when I called VTech, they had not heard of this problem. They say there is no way to upgrade their software or firmware, but they should not have to, this worked before the upgrade to iPhone 4 and iOS4. I have the Dect 6.0 DS6322-4 and all names and numbers used to sync with my 3GS, I upgraded phones and iOS4 and now only numbers sync. I have tried reseting both devices and even restored iphone 4 as new phone, but to no avail. It was genius before, because I have such bad cell reception I needed this to use my cell phone at home. It also really made calling people easy because I always had the same contact information.

Apple please help us.
Thx

I had the same "connect" issue, but just kept removing and unsyncing and pairing and syncing again and again until it would connect and stay connected. However all the names would never sync, so I had to undo everything- all connections and databases(contacts names and numbers). I recently tried turning on a iphone 2 and synced my names to it, then paired it using the most up to date software available for that phone model, (3.1.3) and everything is fine, it pairs, connects and syncs all names and numbers as it should and used to do.

So it must be iOS4.

I still can't use my iphone 4 which is the phone I use now, but at least my names and contacts are in it. I hope they fix this, as my signal strength on ATT in my apartment is still a major issue and reason for getting the vtech in the first place.

Apple, if you read these, I hope this helps narrow the issue... for the next iOS?

I have the VTech DS 6322 and am also having the same problem of no contact names and only phone numbers after upgrading to iOS 4. Ironically, iOS 4 fixed a problem that I was having with syncing contacts in my car. I am now able to sync all of the contacts by selecting a group with fewer contacts. Previously, it only seemed to sync random contacts since I have over 1,000 contacts in my phone. Now I have a group specific to my frequently dialed numbers that syncs perfectly. Now, please fix the VTech issue.

Thanks!

Well, I just downloaded iOS 4.0.1 and tried syncing my contacts again. Nothing! Same results. C'mon Apple this can't be that hard to get right can it? When the AT&T network and overall phone quality are as poor as they are compared to Verizon and other devices I expect you to get the little things like syncing 100% right all the time. At least that is something that is within your control.
