iPhone iOS4 + Nike Plus = Bad Combination

I updated my iPhone 3GS to OS 4.0 yesterday. My workout history is wiped. My number of workouts, miles, time run and calories burnt are not my own. For example, I've only run68.3 miles but the iPhone shows 193.11!! However, the personal records seem to be my own.

After my short run today, I noticed that my run distance and pace was not recorded although my time was. The sensor appeared to be linked.

Is there a way to get this fixed so I can stay on track with my coaching program? Thanks!

Well, I posted once before to report having the same issues on my 3GS that everyone else has, and now it's gotten worse. I did the latest update and now my Nike+ has even more problems. Don't know if there's a connection there or not, but whatever. Yesterday I ran my 6 miles with no music because after 6 tries, the audio would not play with the Nike+ app. After my run I rebooted AGAIN. This morning I got my audio feedback at 2 miles, but nothing after that. I though "oh well, just another glich". Well, after I finished my 6 miles, I went to end the workout and it had only recorded 2.78 miles! I didn't pause or stop the workout, just stopped recording distance and kept recording time! According to the data, it took me 59 minutes to run 2.78 miles. Yeah right, I could crawl that fast! This was only happening after a pause but now it's happened in the middle of a run! Thanks Applie for ruining my iphone!

I have had to go over to using RunKeeper as the nike app is just totally unusable.

I have 2 sensors as alternate 2 pairs of trainers yet the phone will not complete a full run when linked to either.

As soon as something causes the app to pause workout the time will continue to log but the distance remains static.

i've tried the reset approach but this is unfeasible every time you want to go out running.

Nike will lose a lot of users as if this can't be sorted I'll make sure I don't replace the sensor and buy any old pair of trainers next time!

I'm with you here! I too have 2 pairs of Nike+ shoes and 2 sensors. I alternate depending on my location. I have to re-link every time I switch shoes and I still have all the gliches. As posted earlier, the distance stopped recording in the middle of a run this morning - no pause necessary. I too will stop buying expensive Nike+ shoes and the sensor if it's not going to work properly. And to think I was about to spend $135 on a pair of NikeID's. Not going to happen now.

This is (I believe) the full list of known issues posted by the Nike Rep over in the Nike forum. All were introduced as of iOS4.

User cannot view summaries of individual workouts recorded before new OS installation.
User cannot link sensor, or can only link sensor after many difficulties and/or resets.
Pressing Home button during workout did not create spoken feedback. (Note: one user mentioned that the problem only exists for him when the screen is locked. Other users did not note whether screen was locked.)
User cannot successfully resume paused workout. Chronometer is active, but pace and distance are not detected after pause.
User cannot see Nike + iPod tab in iTunes until after first upload with new OS.
After pausing workout, playlist returns to beginning. (Note: some users specified that they were shuffling the playlist when this occurred.)
When kilometers are selected, screen continues to display miles.
Calibration status does not reflect existing calibration until after first upload with new OS.
Spoken feedback occurs only at halfway point and for final 400m countdown. (Note: one user mentioned that this issue occurred only when he ran a custom-distance workout. Other users did not note workout type.)
Spoken feedback volume is uncomfortably high and cannot be adjusted.
Date of first workout recorded with new OS was incorrect on the device (11/30/02), although it uploaded with the correct date.
Workout distance totals are double the user’s true total distance.
During workout, distance and pace briefly display “0.00” when screen is first unlocked.
User cannot link Watch Remote, or can only link Watch Remote after many difficulties and/or resets.
Spoken feedback is inconsistent (unspecified).
No data point on graph is created when user requests and hears spoken feedback.
User can no longer fast-forward by pressing Home and swiping the screen.
Spoken feedback occurs during first half of workout, but not second half.
5k distance workout exceeding 5k cannot be calibrated upward.
No data point on graph is created at mile or kilometer marks.
Playlist is out of order and repeats tracks.
Deleted workouts are not removed from history.
Device does not auto-pause when user is idle.
User can activate the sensor successfully only in time-based workout mode.
Distance of new workout is not added to workout totals.
Halfway point spoken feedback occurs twice.
Minutes are counted as seconds in workouts under 10 minutes.

My husband and I are having trouble, too. He couldn't get his sensor to calibrate anything but a walk; he'd run a 7 minute mile and it would calibrate it as a walk. (After trying seven times, his run mileage is still uncalibrated.) He's since gone to Run Keeper instead.

I've had trouble with the playlist starting and stopping, switching songs on its own, and the app pausing and restarting, pausing and restarting the workout over and over again. It's so distracting that I had to turn Nike+ off altogether (and, of course, it loses track of mileage since it's pausing all the time.)

I'd love to see these issues fixed. Sure, there are other apps out there, but the Nike+ online interface is wonderful and I'd prefer to keep using it.
