Can I sign an att contract at an apple store on Thursday?

i believe you can but the better thing to do would be to call the Apple Store you are going to and ask them directly.

When you are at Apple you activate your AT&T contract there. You have no reason to go to the AT&T store. It would be kinda silly for people to have to go to Apple and then to AT&T. All of the activations go through everyone's AT&T account and either start new accounts or renew existing accounts.

I'm sure you can. Otherwise Apple could not activate the phone in the store. Another question arises if you are transferring your phone number from another carrier.

They will port your Verizon account to ATT. Make sure you bring your Verizon acct. number, though.

Bring a copy of your Verizon bill with you to the Apple Store or AT&T store. They'll need your current phone number with Verizon as well as your Verizon account number.
