Belkin TuneBase Car Kit - Phone calls too quiet after iOS4 upgrade

3GS upgraded to iOS4 - everything seems to work fine and the Belkin TuneBase Direct car kit seems to work (no 'not compatible with this device' error etc) - music plays fine, but when I answer a call through the car kit (by pressing the multifunction button on the Belkin), the phone audio is SO quiet - I have to boost the car audio to max volume just to hear the call.

The Belkin connects through the dock connector to charge, but plugs into the headphone socket to deliver both iPod audio and phone calls (the iPhone regards it as being a pair of headphones for calls/music purposes).

Anyone else having similar problems with this or any other similar car kit?

I have the same problem and as much as I have enjoyed the OS 4.0 update, this little cork have become a big issue for me. We are all supposed to be hands-free when driving and bought this just for that reason. Before the update I enjoyed listening to music and when a call came in, I could answer the call with a slide of a finger and the music lowers, then I can talk to the person calling over my car speakers. After the call, the music starts right back up. THIS IS THE WAY IT SHOULD WORK!!! Now after the update, the volume is soooo freak'n low. I actually thought I had no volume, but after reading Hoyland's post I tried cracking my volume and discovered I could barely hear it. Then I forgot to lower it and blasted my speakers with full volume. Opps. Please restore the volume level to how 3.0 was. Being hands-free is safe and in many places it is illegal to talk without it. Now when a call comes in, I have to look down, disconnect the headset port, then lift off the iphone, and fingerslide to answer the call; and after that i have to place it all back again to listen to music on my iphone, all while driving 55mph. Not safe anymore. Please fix this.

I still haven't solved the phone volume but at least now I solved the ipod control. Before I couldn't control the songs I wanted to hear because it had a white screen that said "accessory connected". I placed it on the Belkin tunebase dock and the headset pin plugged in and then did a reset on the iphone. Once it booted up, I was able to choose my playlist to play over the car speakers.

I finally got it!! You may have done some of these steps already but this what I did. I placed the iPhone on the belkin tunebase and connected the headset port. Next, I did a restore holding down the top button and the home center button for about 10 seconds, bypassing the slide power screen. You should see the apple and then release the buttons. After it resets back up make a phone call. I had my car stereo up loud so I know I could hear the other person. Then while talking to them, use the side volume buttons to increase the volume. The callers voice should get louder and louder. I max'd the volume. Then I went back to the iPod feature and actually had to lower that a bit to equalize them both. Can't believe it worked because it was so simple. I was almost ready to pitch it. Hope this helps.

Yes, this worked for me too.
I just bought the TuneBase FM with handsfree and I couldn't hear the caller on the car stereo at all. After much conversation with the Belkin Support people they thought the product was faulty and were sending me a new one.

I then read this and thought it was worth a try!

Voila, problem solved.

I rang the Belkin people back cancelled the replacement and told them how I fixed it.
