I have some unprotected ePub books which I would like to be able to read in iBooks. I was able to import them without any problems into iTunes - which shows them as "Book" in the Kind line when I "Get Info". But so far, they haven't sync'd into iBooks on my iPod Touch (2nd gen). The Winnie-the-Pooh book shows up in my Books folder in iTunes in the same place as my ePub books, but in iBooks, it's the only book on the shelves.
Am I missing something here??
MacBook, iMac,
Mac OS X (10.6.3),
iMac: 4 GB RAM, 2.66 Ghz Intel C2D
No, I haven't read them elsewhere. They were created from published books by the publisher so they could be distributed for free (they happen to be religious books), and they're supposed to work...
Can I try them in some other reader on my computer? I haven't done ePub books before...
The publisher says for sure they should work in ibooks? (creating an epub that is valid for ibooks involves more steps than just a generic epub conversion--if there are errors in the metadata it may not work at all.)
OK, now I think I feel a bit dumb... but maybe if I write it here, it will save someone else feeling so dumb too...
I connected my iPod Touch to sync again, and clicked on the Books tab in iTunes (only shows up when they're connected). For some reason, the button was highlighted to only sync selected books. So I just changed it to sync all books. It's syncing now and we'll see in a moment if that does the trick...
