Despite the fact that I bought a 3g 8Gb iPod Touch, it is being treated as if it is a 2g 8Gb iPod Touch.. So I won't be able to check out the 4.3 iOS.. Maybe just as well though..
Actually, there is no 3g 8Gb iPod Touch. The 8Gb model that was sold with the 3g iPod Touches is actually a 2g model. The 3g iPod Touch only came in 16Gb, 32Gb, and 64 Gb versions.IPad 64GB, iPod Touch, iMac, iOS 4
Currently Being ModeratedMar 13, 2011 6:29 AM (in response to JimHdk)There was a 8 gig 3rd. gen touch. There was no 16 gig. Apple skipped 16, so you were able to buy a 8, 32, or 64 gig 3rd. gen ipod touchHome made, Windows XP Pro
Currently Being ModeratedMar 13, 2011 6:42 AM (in response to mike2363)You are correct that there was no 16GB 3G iPod Touch. I mistakenly included that in my list.
However, the 8GB model sold at the same time as the 32GB and 64GB 3g models was actually 2g hardware running the same iOS. No true 8GB 3g model was ever made.

I'm not sure what you mean by 25% (brightness at 25%?). The battery life (at full charge) for an activity like playing video is spec'd at 7 hours (brightness unknown). Playing music with the screen off is supposed to be possible for 40 hours (from full charge).

Currently Being ModeratedMar 13, 2011 6:28 PM (in response to Andrew Barkley)I just restored my 32GB gen3 as a new iPod. I see that it puts the wi-fi to sleep when it goes to standby. I will be watching for any changes to this behavior, but I am expecting better battery life for now.3rd gen iPod
