A: I do not have issues. At least no more then anyone else does.

B: It has not always been this way. This only started once storage started to get larger then 1 GB in the mass market. It is shameful that it was allowed to happen the way it was and anyone who has taken even some basic computer science courses will tell you that it is not correct.

C: It was not a petty rambling. It was a concise and proper answer to the original posters question that was not based in a lie by telling someone that iOS 4 take over 2 GB of space.

If you disagree with my statements, thats fine. But attacking me on the forum for giving a factual answer to someone else's post only shows a lack of maturity on your part.

Umm .. yea it's a legit question. Not everyone knows stuff like that. I didn't know. When the commercial says "16 gigs of storage space" I wouldn't NATURALLY and AUTOMATICALLY assume that some of that space is going to be utilized by the OS. To me, and apparently a lot of other people, 16 gigs of promised space would mean just that ... 16 gigs. Not 14.

Jp....not really. They are not being less than honest or misleading in any way. When you got your laptop, desktop or whatever you have for a computer, you bought it with a set amount of storage. When you opened it up the first time and had you checked the available "free" space, you would have seen your free space as being less than the total space the computer had to begin with. And the reason is because the operating system and programs you preloaded use some of the available space. Was your PC manufacturer not being upfront? No, your computer had what was advertised........The iPhone has 16GB or 32GB. After loading the OS, it has less free space, but it still has the GB purchased.

I understand your point, you ,me and the OP,but not so savvy users might be a bit puzzled when they discover having purchased a 16GB IPT,their available usage is 14GB.Stating it is a 16GB IPT is just really telling them it has a drive that size, but can only use 14GB.Which might lead to a bit of head scratching!.
I would just prefer manufacturers giving the available storage space.
