When I take a picture with the LED flash, it lights up for focusing and metering, but then turns off during the actual exposure. That is, the light works, but it turns off too soon and I get a black picture. This happens every time I use the flash, and it doesn't matter if I set it to "auto" or "on." I've tried rebooting the phone.
I'm having the same problem with them coming out over exsposed or something they turn out with a lot of blue color & can't really make out the picture.
I have the same issue, taking pictures, it'll light up when measuring and when it actually takes the picture it turns off and all i get is blackness!!!!
I called Technical Support and they had nothing to say but "we'll send u a replacement if u let us put $600 on hold on your credit card" but man this is ridiculous i just got this phone!!!!!
Anybody else having the same issue? any resolutions?
I still don't know what's wrong, but Apple has sent me a new phone. They also put a hold on my card, but they don't actually charge anything, so I think it's entirely fair.
I also noticed my proximity sensor doesn't really work, so the phone clearly has problems.
I figured I'd leave the protective film on until I got a skin for the phone, but the photos with flash were very washed out, a kind of white and blue that was useless.
But with the cover off they are PERFECT! No more flash photo or video problems with the protective skin or cover off.
I was also getting blue pictures when taken with flash (auto,on), without flash it would come out perfect. I removed the plastic/protective film from the back of the phone and everything became fine! Now all the pictures come out fine (with or without flash).Thank you!
I am experiencing the same thing. I have had my iphone 4 for approximately 5 days, rebooted several times and tried taking a photo in multiple low light conditions and I get a very dark and fuzzy picture every time. I did 20+ tests all resulting in the same dark, fuzzy photo. I will hope that Apple with address this within the upcoming update that is to include the antenna coding issue.
I've just taken delivery of an iPhone 4 and noticed the same problem WRT the flash working but not being in sync with the shutter. I did a 'restore to new' and then tried the camera, only to find the problem was still there. However, after I then did a 'restore to backup' from just before the restore to new, the problem has gone and the flash now lights up at the same time as the shutter 🙂
I've had my iPhone 4 for some time and wanted to keep it in mint condition, so I left the factory protective film on and was getting frustrated at the white over exposed pictures on my new device. I just got a skin for the back of the phone and it was like magic! My pictures are PERFECT now! No more flash photo or video problems with the protective film off. I guess the LED flash reflects on the film and was causing a overexposed look on my photos.
If you have a film on the back or cover that goes over camera lens, just remove it and enjoy your phone the way it was made to be!
