Q: iTunes update 9.2 genre problem

So I updated my iTunes to the new version 9.2 and now everytime I try to change the genre of a song or artist or group of songs the genre just dissapears all together. Is anyone else having this problem? It seems like everytime they do an update something is wrong with the software somewhere. Last time they took the convert file to MP3 option of the list when you right clicked on a file and moved it to the advance setting on top. Now that is back but now this genre issue is occuring for me. Please help!!!!!

A:

If you try to select the genre from the list it doesn't save. If you place your cursor in the genre field and start typing, it will auto fill for you and you will be able to save your changes. Not exactly the best method, but it works.

This began happening after updating today to iTunes 9.2.0.61.

Thanks for the help I had actually just figured that out for my self. Other things are strage too sinse the last update. Cover art, and grid artwork doesn't update unless you close and restart iTunes. It's all weird to me.

Hi, just found a solution!

This is a bug in iTunes 9.2 with handling MP3 files with ID3 Tag v2.4 .. If you change it to any lower version, genre will show correctly!

Select the song(s), right click - "Convert ID3 Tags" and select v2.3 (best option imho).

That is not a solution, just a temporary fix to the problem.

Since updating to 9.2, everytime I play a song the genre changes to a number in brackets ie. classical changes to (4)

Its a terrible problem because I am losing control of all my music as I play it.

Please Help!

got the same problem. since upgrading to 9.2.1 (might not have noticed before with 9.2)

This is really a bad one and an easy to solve one -- numbers in parenthesis seem to be an index into the genres....

Fix this one fast please. Wreaks havoc with my library.

Why on earth don't they test these things out before pushing updates on us? Are they ********? The other day a glitch in the itunes handle wiped out all my videos and all they can say is sorry. Surely they have the resources to test these things out before making our lives ****.
