I seem to be having the same problems as others in not being able to see the option for Facetime when making a call. But when i go into Settings to turn on Facetime, it's already on and says "Waiting for Activation" underneath the Facetime option. Anyone else having the same issue? I cant seem to connect to any Facetime call at all. Help!!!
if you kept your existing messeging plan with at&t named iPhone Messaging Unlimited you need to change this to Messaging Unlimited, you will also have to make sure your Show Caller ID is set to ON. i went through the setup process with some very helpful reps at AT&T and Apple support.
It took a day for me. The text portion was on but I kept getting the error. It took 3 times of resetting my network settings for it to take. I had the issue even after a full wipe of the phone.
OK, I had this problem with one of my iPhone 4s.
These are the steps I took to resolve this:
Call ATT and ask them to reset/check that the phone # you are having Facetime problems with has text messaging turned on. You may have had it on yourplan, but ATT has removed it and it needs to be reinstated.
Then, after you can send a text message successfully to another phone, go sync it with iTunes. After that, your Facetime should be operational assuming you also have wifi connected and are calling another iPhone 4. Hope this helps!
My father was having this problem. I had him send a text message--it went through, and FaceTime worked after that. So if the text sends correctly, try FaceTime again--it just might work.
1. Check for 3G Singnal first
2. Connect to WiFi ( Replaces 3G with Wifi Signal)
3. Turn on Facetime.
4. If it is not working, then send Text message to another cell phone, if it fails to be received, then call Apple to enable at least pay per use Text message.
5. Re-set Network settings.
6. re-connect Wifi
7. Turn of Phone for 30 secs..
8. Check Facttime...it will be working
